💡 Fun Fact:
Pets and assistance animals can have a big impact on wellbeing and independence. Spending time with your pet or an assistance animal can:
✔ Reduce stress and anxiety
✔ Support emotional regulation
✔ Encourage physical activity and daily routines
✔ Boost social connection

For many people with disability, assistance animals aren’t just pets — they’re partners in everyday life, helping with mobility, mental health, or autism support.

So today, give your companion an extra cuddle or a treat, and celebrate the love and support they bring 💕

🌱 Thriving Kids – What This Means for Families

Governments have committed $4 billion over 5 years to roll out Thriving Kids, the first phase of new Foundational Supports for children.

Here’s a simple breakdown 👇

Who is it for?
Children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism who have low to moderate support needs, along with their families and carers.

What is changing?
Thriving Kids will provide earlier, easier-to-access supports delivered through state services — helping children access supports in the places they live, learn and play.

Families will be able to access:
✔ Trusted information and advice
✔ Evidence-based allied health supports
✔ Services matched to their child’s individual needs

When does this start?
• State services begin rolling out by 1 October 2026
• Expected to be fully operational by 1 January 2028

❓ Will children already on the NDIS move to this new funding?

There are no immediate changes.

From 1 January 2028, changes to NDIS access will apply only to children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs.

Children already on the NDIS before this date will be reassessed under the eligibility criteria that were in place prior to 1 January 2028.

More details about services and access arrangements will be released closer to the rollout.

🎄 Did you know? During the Age of Exploration, sailors would place a Christmas box on their ships for good luck. 💰✨ The money collected was later given to a priest, who would open the box on Boxing Day and distribute the funds to help the poor.

🎶 Jingle Bells… in SPACE?! 🚀✨
Yep — Jingle Bells was the first song ever played in space!

On 16 December 1965, Gemini 6A astronauts Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford pranked NASA’s Mission Control by pretending they’d spotted a UFO 👽… then surprised everyone by playing Jingle Bells using a harmonica 🎵 and tiny sleigh bells 🔔

The festive fun came after a huge space milestone — the first-ever rendezvous of two spacecraft in orbit! 🚀🤝🚀

Proof that even astronauts love a bit of Christmas cheer 🎄🎅🎶
