Reposting this important information about Vitex was the biggest ripple we caused last year...but do all our patients know? So here it is again in simple terms. Feel free to share it with all & let's together minimise the chances of women getting themselves in trouble with Vitex.

Chaste Tree or Vitex agnus-castus is a godsend for many but not for every woman! Vitex is commonly used to boost progesterone levels to relieve certain menstrual complaints, including cyclical mood issues. However, Vitex's effects on mood works primarily via mimicking a stimulating brain chemical called dopamine. Too much dopamine can manifest as anger, aggression, vivid dreaming etc. So Vitex would make the wrong choice in these excess dopamine scenarios! I've seen many cases where women self-prescribed Vitex and when practitioners suggest they stop taking it the patient is surprised at how much better they feel, emotionally. We love what Vitex offers to so many patients but I guess this is just another reminder that the best herbal medicine shouldn't be bought off the shelf but prescribed for you by a professional.

An ancestor of red algae lost about a quarter of its genes roughly one billion years ago, but the algae still became dominant in near-shore coastal a...

Do you have a ringing or 'crickets' in your ears? Here's some good news for both tinnitus and hearing loss. Come and talk to me at Strathpine Health Care Clinic about some strategies that may help. Phone: 0732057070. πŸ₯‘πŸ₯¦πŸ‰πŸ₯πŸ’«

Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the absence of an external stimuli. What's your favourite antioxidant activity? There's not really any excuse to use wine to boost resveratrol, when you weigh it up against the negative (depressant) effects of alcohol on the brain, liver, pancreas etc anymore. Far better to enjoy it from other sources like the tasty natural colour in grapes and a little dark chocolate (πŸ˜‰)... Stress-reduction and mindful activities like walking under trees or in the ocean, or the real-deal yoga also reduce the oxidation effects on your body without the 'need' for a wine! 😊🌲🌳🍁🌊
