This morning we were delighted to host a Christmas brunch in celebration of the incredible volunteers who give their time, expertise and compassion to our hospital. With more than 50 out of the 86 volunteers joining us, we also recognised special 5, 10, 15 and 20-year service milestones - an inspiring reflection of long-standing commitment to our hospital community. โค๏ธ

Meeting on International Volunteers Day made the occasion even more meaningful. As our CEO Tina Chinery shared, our volunteers are part of a global community making a remarkable difference - and here at Subiaco, their impact is felt every single day.

This year, our volunteers contributed more than 700 hours across 22 different roles, helping us care for more than 72,000 West Australians, support nearly 4,000 births, navigate major redevelopment works, and bring comfort, joy and hope to patients and caregivers. From new roles in the IBD Clinic, Eye Hospital, Catering and Pregnancy, Baby & Beyond Clinic, to the beautiful addition of music volunteers, their presence truly enriches every corner of our hospital.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity, passion and warmth our volunteers bring. They embody our values of hospitality, compassion and respect โ€“ and our hospital simply would not be the same without them.

๐ŸŽ„ To all our wonderful volunteers: thank you, and we wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Please join us in thanking them below. ๐Ÿ’™

We held our annual caregiver Christmas lunch in our newly refurbished Pomegranate Courtyard today!

We hope all of our caregivers enjoyed the festive fiesta. ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿช‡

We had more food than we needed, which meant we were able to donate the leftover burrito bowels to local homeless shelters. Thank you to Fresh Catering and Events for delivering the food. What a beautiful reminder that giving back is truly the best gift this Christmas ๐Ÿฅฐ

Looking for something to fill the cricket-shaped hole after the Ashes wrapped up early last weekend? Weโ€™ve got just the match for you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our wonderful Maternity Nurse Unit Manager, Suzie Kelly, is the proud Treasurer of the West Australian Blind Cricket Association - and this Sunday, their team will take on our very own Subi Sixers, primarily made up of St John of God Subiaco Hospital midwives, obstetricians and neonatologists.

To keep things interesting (and competitive!), our Subi Sixers will be donning special glasses that mimic vision impairment, which is sure to make for an entertaining game.

A quick reminder for our community:

Weโ€™re currently refurbishing our hospitalโ€™s main entry forecourt to create a more welcoming, modern space for our patients, visitors, caregivers and VMOs - and to better connect our hospital with the broader Subiaco community. ๐Ÿ’™

The drop off and pick up area is temporarily located at our Medical Clinic entrance on McCourt Street (25 McCourt Street, Subiaco).

If you need any assistance, our friendly caregivers and volunteers are always nearby and happy to help.

We were delighted to welcome back our past NICU patients to the hospital to celebrate World Prematurity Day!

We loved seeing how much these Subi babies have grown. From their earliest, most fragile days, they captured our hearts, and seeing how they have flourished into happy, healthy babies brought us so much joy ๐Ÿค

Thank you to every family who came back to visit us this week. You remind us that these special moments are some of the reasons why we do what we do.

Every day across our hospitals, services and communities, thousands of acts of care bring our Mission to life โ€“ to continue the healing mission of Jesus.

The theme of our 2024โ€“25 Annual Report, Every Moment Matters, captures the aspiration of our new strategy. The report celebrates the impact of compassionate, connected and committed care delivered across Australia and New Zealand.

In the past year we:
๐ŸŒŸ cared for more than 400,000 overnight and same day patients across our hospitals and services,
๐ŸŒŸ welcomed more than 10,609 babies into the world,
๐ŸŒŸ delivered $29.1million in social outreach to support people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, addiction and disadvantage,
๐ŸŒŸ and employed more than 16,000 caregivers guided by our values of Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Justice and Excellence.

These numbers tell only part of the story. Behind each one is a person cared for with dignity โ€“ and caregivers who provide compassionate, connected and committed care every day.

Thank you to our caregivers, doctors and partners for making 2024โ€“25 a year of hope and healing, and to the patients and clients who entrusted us with their care.
