On the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to celebrate the incredible work happening at our hospital in breast cancer research.

For over 20 years, Subiaco Hospital has been at the forefront of clinical trials and innovative treatments, giving patients access to therapies often years before they become widely available. From early-stage breast cancer to complex metastatic cases, our dedicated researchers and oncologists are advancing care, improving outcomes, and offering hope to women across Western Australia.

ORTHOPAEDIC NURSES WEEK 🦴

This week, we shone a spotlight on our incredible orthopaedic nursing team. As a leader in orthopaedic care in WA, we’re proud to celebrate the compassion, skill and teamwork that make our caregivers among the best in the State.

To mark the occasion, caregivers from our two orthopaedic wards came together yesterday for an afternoon tea filled with games, laughter and ward decorations - just in time for Halloween, with some spooky skeletons joining in the fun! 💀🎃

Thank you to all our orthopaedic nurses for the outstanding care you provide to our patients and community. ❤

New maternity pick up and drop off bays! 🚗🚙

For your safety and convenience, we’ve introduced two dedicated five minute bays, exclusively for maternity patients.

You’ll find them at the Salvado Road entrance, near the pedestrian entry.

Our hearts are full after our incredible community cardiac health event last night. ❤️

A massive thank you to the more than 300 people who registered to join us in-person and online to take charge of their heart health. Your enthusiasm and fantastic questions made the evening truly special.

A special round of applause for our three brilliant cardiologists🩺: Dr Eric Yamen, Dr Michelle Ammerer, and Dr Chloe Nettlefold. They shared invaluable insights and answered attendees’ questions on everything from the latest in preventative care to new treatment options.

Taking care of your heart is a community effort, and we're so proud to be on this journey with you.

Want to learn the basics of baby massage? 👶

We're so pleased to welcome back Jane Tetley from Intuitive Baby Massage to our Subi Babies older bubs session this week.

Baby massage is a gentle way for parents and their infants to connect and to gain from all the benefits if has to offer. Jane is an experienced infant massage instructor and nurse with a background in midwifery and child health. Jane will provide a brief overview of the benefits of baby massage.

The session is free to all SJG Subiaco Hospital maternity patients and suitable for parents with babies 3-10 months old. ✨

🚴‍♂️Our Engineering Manager, Colin, will soon be taking part in the Breaths and Beats Charity Bike Ride, completing the 60km ride around South Perth.

For Colin, this event is deeply personal. Cycling has always been a big part of his life – from riding to school and his first job, to now cycling 20km each way to work. But most importantly, Colin is riding because of the impact that heart and lung disease has had on his family.

He said that sadly, his cousin has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, and his dad passed away from a heart condition.

“My lung capacity and functionality allow me to enjoy activities like running, cycling, playing tennis and SCUBA diving without any concerns. Unfortunately, there are lots of people can’t physically do this,” he said.

“I’m pleased to be able to support vital research that will benefit people living with heart and lung conditions and hopefully improve their quality of life.”

Colin’s commitment to this cause is especially meaningful for us as a hospital, given our proud reputation as a leading provider of cardiac and respiratory care.

Through the generosity of , our hospital continues to receive lifechanging funding to help vulnerable babies, children and their families across our WA hospitals. We’re so grateful for Telethon’s ongoing support in helping us to make a difference where it’s needed most. ❤
