Caring for your hearing aids is caring for your hearing health. Here are our top 4 care tips to maintain your hearing aids and protect your hearing.

1. Keep them dry.
Remove hearing aids before showering, swimming or heavy exercise. Moisture is one of the biggest causes of damage.

2. Clean them daily.
Gently wipe with a dry, soft cloth to remove wax, sweat and oils. Avoid water or cleaning sprays.

3. Store them safely.
Place them in their case or a drying container when not in use. Never loose in a bag or on a bench.

4. Charge regularly.
Replace batteries or recharge daily so theyโ€™re ready to go (and to avoid unexpected drop-outs).

For many living with hearing loss, conversations are exhausting and at times can be incredibly stressful. Itโ€™s natural to want to withdraw but avoiding connection can lead to isolation, loneliness and emotional distress.

Our research has shown that untreated hearing loss is linked directly with increased social withdrawal, loneliness and reduced quality of life - but it doesn't have to be this way.

If you or someone you love is withdrawing from social life because of difficulty hearing, you donโ€™t have to face it alone.

Good luck to all swimmers taking on the 2026 Rottnest Channel Swim this weekend.

A special shoutout to our two incredible teams swimming in support of Ear Science Institute Australia:

~ Team 1. The Cochlear Kickers, led by Lauren Young and a crew of lifelong friends (including one travelling all the way from the U.S.), are taking on the Rottnest Channel with the goal of raising $15,000 to support life-changing hearing research.

~ Team 2. Jim McLarty, who is swimming to help fund vital research and clinical programs improving hearing outcomes for people across WA and beyond.

We are incredibly grateful to both teams for choosing Ear Science as their charity for this yearโ€™s swim - weโ€™ll be cheering you every stroke of the way!

Living with tinnitus can be challenging - but effective management options exist.

Tinnitus management focuses on reducing distress and supporting the brain to respond differently over time.

Evidence-based approaches such as hearing aids, sound enrichment/ sound therapy and cognitive behavioural strategies can help to lessen the impact tinnitus has on daily life.

When tailored to you, these options can support improved comfort, confidence and wellbeing.

If tinnitus is affecting you or a loved one, our team at Lions Hearing Clinic can find an appropriate management pathway tailored to you. Connect with us via the link below to start your hearing journey today.

That ringing in your ears isnโ€™t random. Your body is trying to tell you something.

Tinnitus is the conscious awareness of a sound source in the absence of an external sound. It is not a disease, but rather a response or a symptom of an underlying condition.

The most common recognised trigger? Hearing loss. Even mild changes in hearing can bring on a continuous or intermittent ringing, buzzing or whooshing type sound in the ears or the head.

If this reads like you, the good news - tinnitus is treatable. This Tinnitus Awareness Week, [FEB 3-9] don't let the ringing get in the way. This week is Tinnitus Awareness Week 2026 [FEB 3-9].

If you hear ringing, buzzing or humming in your ears, youโ€™re not alone - and itโ€™s not something to ignore. In fact, 2 in 3 Australians will suffer from tinnitus at some point in their lives.

Tinnitus is a symptom, rather than a condition, and is most commonly linked to hearing loss. Understanding what it is, what causes it and how it can be managed is the first step toward relief.

This Tinnitus Awareness Week, connect with our team at Lions Hearing Clinic for trusted information, personalised guidance and ongoing support towards better hearing.

The gentle sounds of magpies greeting the morning. A hush of wind moves through the trees. The pitter patter of light rain melts softly into the dewy grass.

Studies have actually found that listening to nature sounds (especially birds!) can improve overall mental wellbeing and mood, reduce stress, and lower feelings of anxiety and depression.

In 2023, Dr Dona Jayakody and colleagues conducted a clinical trial to explore the powerful link between hearing, mental wellbeing and cognition. The trial showing that poorer hearing can impact psychological health, increase loneliness, and affect thinking skills.

Hearing connects us to these moments in nature. When hearing loss goes untreated, you can miss out on the very sounds that support your calm, connection and happiness.
