Please note our practice will be closed from 12:00pm Wednesday 24 December and will reopen Monday 5 January 2026. During this period, we will be open for post-op nursing appointments only.

If you’ve had recent cosmetic or reconstructive surgery with our team and have any post-operative questions or concerns, please call our practice during the period above - your call will be directed to the appropriate on-call support. If you need urgent medical care outside of these times, please contact your GP, attend your nearest emergency department, or call 000 in an emergency.

Our 24/7 emergency service 1300HANDOC will remain open over the festive break for work-related acute hand trauma injuries. Simply call 1300 426 362 to speak to the team.

We’re thrilled to welcome Specialist Plastic Surgeon Dr Alexandra O’Neill to the WA Plastic Surgery Centre team.

Alex completed her medical training at Flinders University in 2011, graduating with degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She became a Specialist Plastic Surgeon in 2022 when she was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Alex joined our practice in 2024 and offers a wide range of procedures including:

• All skin cancers for excision and reconstruction
• Head & neck resection & microsurgical reconstruction
• Aesthetic facial surgery, such as blepharoplasty, brow lift, face & neck lift, otoplasty
• Facial nerve palsy management
• Breast reduction, breast lift, gynaecomastia

We are delighted to introduce Dr Dirck Ananos as part of the WA Plastic Surgery Centre team.

Dirck completed his medical training at the Cayetano Heredia University in Peru, South America in 2002, graduating with degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He came a Specialist Plastic Surgeon in 2016 when he was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Dirck joined our practice in 2021 and offers a wide range of procedures, including:

• All skin cancers for excision and reconstruction
• Aesthetic facial surgery, such as otoplasty and blepharoplasty
• Breast reduction, abdominoplasty and gynaecomastia
• Hand and wrist surgery, including carpal tunnel, Dupuytren’s and trigger finger.

Dirck is also Head of Department of Plastic Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital and is a Consultant Specialist Plastic Surgeon at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the hand unit at Fremantle Hospital.

Patient in their late 40's before and 5 weeks after bilateral gynaecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) and ni**le grafting.

The patient had very small lateral dog ears following the procedure, which is an excess 'pucker' of skin or fatty tissue at the end of an incision line. This can be addressed easily under local anaesthetic at a later date if the patient wishes.

We are pleased to announce a huge win for patient safety with the Parliament of Western Australian now legally restricting the use of the title ‘surgeon’.

The protected title 'surgeon' can now only be used by Specialist medical practitioners who have completed Australian Medical Council (AMC) approved surgical training in one of the recognised specialties of surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, or in another recognised specialty in the medical profession with the word 'surgeon' in a Specialist title for the specialty.

Aimed at safeguarding patients against doctors calling themselves a self-titled 'cosmetic surgeon' or 'aesthetic surgeon', regardless of their qualifications and level of training, these new laws work to strengthen regulations of cosmetic surgery in Australia. Before this, any registered medical practitioner could call themselves a ‘surgeon’, even if they were not registered in a surgical speciality or had not completed specialist training in surgery.

Doctors who now use the title ‘surgeon’ without having completed the appropriate surgical training will face up to three years in prison and a $60,000 fine.
