Whether we are working in the water, your home or out in the community, we tailor our support to what makes your child feel safe, motivated and empowered to grow.

At H2OT we foster the power of play and connection to build foundational skills so your child can achieve what they want and need to in their day to day life.

The chaos of our daily lives can often take over and as adults our priorities change but at the end of the day even as we grow older we must remember the importance and power of play.

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stopped playing” George Bernard Shaw

Meet the absolute backbone of H2OT, Emma 👋🏻👋🏻
Emma has worked as an OT on the Sunshine Coast for over 10 years, taking the occasional break to have her gorgeous boys.

Emma is one of the kindest, most generous people we know. She gives her absolute all to her clients and their families. Emma brings years of experience working with children and adolescents and we are constantly in awe of her knowledge and creative approaches to therapy. She is an exceptional Occupational Therapist and all round amazing human.

Important to know Emma’s favourite travel destination is Japan (yes she does love sushi) and on her days off you will often find her down at the beach with her boys.

One of our core values at H2OT is ‘Connection’. It holds so much power when working with children and their families.

Brene Brown defines connection as “the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued”.

Watching our clients connect and evolve within our sessions brings us so much joy. Then seeing and hearing about how these skills have transferred to other environments is our whole reason we do what we do.

Meet our Director Sam 👋🏻👋🏻
Sam has worked all over Australia and in the UK across acute, subacute, community and paediatric services.

Sam’s dream of starting H2OT became a reality July 2022 and now it’s grown to a beautiful team of dynamic, passionate and innovative therapists (absolute unicorns).

Important to know… Sam is obsessed with coffee, gets way too excited about dinner reservations and loves to binge a trashy tv show.

Window of Tolerance 🤙🏻

‘Window of Tolerance” is a term originally coined by Dr. Dan Siegel commonly used to understand and describe normal brain/body reactions, especially following adversity.

When we are within our Window of Tolerance we are essentially in the optimal zone, our nervous systems (Sympathetic and Parasympathetic) are in a state of balance, which allows for adaptive responses to stress and a capacity for emotional regulation to balance this stress. In other words, we are calm but alert enough to be engaged in what we are doing without it being excessive, and we have ‘headroom’ to manage (and recover from) any challenges that may arise. Thus, when we are within our Window of Tolerance, we can engage in flexible thinking, effective communication and actions, and we are able to cope with daily stressors, build healthy relationships, and regulate our emotions constructively as required.

Children who have experienced trauma or are living with Neurodivergence may have a narrow window of tolerance. It is our job as OTs to upskill and educate both our clients and their families on how we can broaden this to enable increased participation in the things they want and need to do in their day.

Meet the team ✌🏻

Drum roll please …. 🥁
Meet Emma! We are so excited for her to join the H2OT family. Fun fact, Emma and our Director Sam went to uni together and have been best of friends ever since. Emma has 2 x little boys (hence the delay in joining H2OT 😂😂 worth it though as they are scrumptious).

Emma is deeply passionate about early intervention and supporting children to reach their full potential. Emma has a special interest in primitive reflex integration and how they play a role in a child’s development.
