Thrive Counselling

Thrive Counselling TRTP therapy to overcome anxiety, depression and stress. Feel empowered, confident, and in control. Hello! Many people experience anxiety, depression or stress.

My name is Aly, and I am your registered TRTP Practitioner at Thrive Counselling. Our clever brains put up blocks to protect us from past trauma, but this can get in the way of living a full and productive life. At Thrive, I use TRTP therapy to address the root cause of these issues, so that you can feel empowered, confident, and free from self-sabotaging beliefs. I’m passionate about helping people improve their emotional well-being and reach their potential. “Per Aspera Ad Astra” (through adversity to the stars) is my motto. Are you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, or depressed & finding it difficult to cope? Maybe you have lost direction in your life. Maybe it’s insomnia, OCD, avoiding social activities. Maybe you keep finding yourself in a cycle of self-sabotage. Whatever it is: you’ve lost motivation and zest for life. If that’s you, and you’re overwhelmed by the prospect of getting yourself back on track: don’t worry. Thrive Counselling can help you feel grounded, empowered and confident again. With TRTP therapy, I can help you improve your emotional wellbeing, take charge of your life, and reach your full potential. Live life to the full! In a nutshell, I help individuals to unlearn what they were told to be from childhood, and rediscover who they are really meant to be. I know how it feels to lose control of your life. After being in a serious car accident, I felt trapped in limbo, stuck out of normality, and like I’d never be able to move on. My background as a registered nurse and teacher brought me to helping people like you overcome being stuck and out of control. I have a MSc in Community Health, an Ad. Diploma in Counselling and Health, am a registered TRTP Practitioner and hold a Blue Card. As a TRTP Practitioner, I’ve been through the TRTP process myself and seen its power first-hand. I’m so excited to offer this life-changing counselling to clients in Australia and worldwide. It’s simple to get started on your journey with TRTP therapy:
Step 1. Book your no-obligation, FREE, 45 minute initial consultation with me. We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, and work out the best plan to get you back to the life you want to live. Step 2. I will guide you through three TRTP sessions (approx. 2-3 hours each) where we will close the loops in your subconscious that are causing your distress. Step 3. We will review how you are going after 1 month and 6 months. If needed, you’ll have one or two additional TRTP sessions, completely FREE. I work with you online, in a one-to-one, warm, safe, supportive and completely confidential environment. TRTP has worked for thousands of people. If you commit fully, are open-minded, and can imagine, then the results can be profound. TRTP addresses the root cause of issues, in a one-and-done program. When you complete your TRTP course, your problem will be resolved: no ongoing therapy for years and years. Some people may need up to five sessions to complete TRTP. If you need more than three sessions, additional sessions are included FREE. My intention is to empower people to take charge of their life. Don’t stay stuck in the continuous loop of negative thought patterns. Debilitating, unconscious core beliefs keep you trapped in a self-sabotaging cycle, and stop you from living a rich, full life. Don’t spend each day feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed and depressed. Instead, Thrive Counselling is here to help you feel grounded, empowered, motivated, confident and ready to live life to the full. Get back your zest for life. Be open to opportunities. Reconnect with your social circle and build meaningful friendships. Let go, have fun, and open yourself to hope as you step into your creative, brighter future. 'How do you get a rainbow in your heart when it’s in the sky?'
Written by Annmarie Keogh & Illustrated by Gabriella Di Salvo
Inspired by THE RISING STARS THEATRE COMPANY SWANSEA
A new children’s story book that aims to help children understand and come to terms with Lockdown during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This beautiful book has been privately produced by 'The Rising Stars Theatre Company', which is a disability theatre company in Swansea, South Wales, UK. The book was inspired from an online session with the students. They were asked to think of words associated with rainbows. These words, along with the question asked by Joseph Cullen: “How do you get a rainbow in your heart when it’s in the sky?” inspired volunteer, Ann-Marie Keogh to create this beautiful story. The book is aimed at primary school children but grown ups would love it too. The book has been distributed to other disability units, however it is available to purchase online and all funds will go to 'The Rising Stars Theatre Company' to support the magical work that they do. We hope you love it as much as we do:-)

About 6 months ago, I decided to follow in one of my BFF, Annmarie's footsteps. For years, she's celebrated the start of a New Year by making two resolutions, which she actually FOLLOWS THROUGH on! These are some of the things she has accomplished from her "bucket list": The art of basic car mechanics, basic plumbing skills, interior design, stand-up paddle boarding, trips worldwide, sound therapy, volunteering at her local charity which works with disabled children/adults in her community. Annmarie was so inspired by a comment made by one of the beautiful little girls there, that she wrote an amazing children's book to raise funds for this organization... something she never thought she would or could do! (So you never know until you try!) Go Girl! The little one's comment was:" How do you get a rainbow in your heart when it's in the sky!" This is the title of Annmarie's masterpiece. You can purchase it online at 'The Rising Stars Theatre Company'

Anyway, I've decided to take a leaf out of her book and I've taken up wait for it.........embroidery, lol! Last attempted in school with Miss Ferrari aged 10y! I've also returned to the piano after 40 years.. but still sounding like Les Dawson, though it's coming back to me little by little.
I also intend to fly to the UK for my lovely niece Charlotte's wedding, to see family & friends & visit my longtime Swiss friend Ursula en route, in September. Who knows, perhaps a 'Habitat 4 Humanity' or 'Medecins sans Frontiere' project will be on the cards down the line? Or a trip to Egypt with John Anthony West or Graham Hancock, two brilliant rogue Archaeologists?

We’ve all felt anxiety at some point. Whether it arises during a new social situation, before a presentation, an exam or anything else, we all know that feeling of nervousness in the pit of our stomach.
If you feel a persistent, debilitating nervousness, then you may suffer from one of several common types of anxiety.
*Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)-
A person may feel anxiety in a wide variety of situations, not limited to one specific area. For example, they might feel worried about visiting a friend, working on a project or calling the garage or their dentist to make an appointment.
Anxieties just don’t match the world around them. For example, it’s normal to feel nervous about messing up during a presentation. But if a person feels intense fear about their laptop exploding during that presentation, then this could be a sign of GAD since that outcome is highly unlikely.
Physical symptoms of GAD may include quick, shallow breathing, heart palpitations, sweating.
Common Types of Anxiety:
Panic Disorders
Panic attacks are severe feelings of anxiety that come with significant physical symptoms.
Some symptoms include:
Elevated heart rate & pulse
Sweating
Trouble breathing
Chest pain, similar to a heart attack
Social Anxiety Disorders:
If social interactions are a cause of excessive worry for people, then they may have social anxiety disorder. A common sign of social anxiety disorder is not wanting to leave home for fear of being judged by others. Staying in long-term employment or maintaining friendships can be difficult due to this stress. Social anxiety may cause people to miss out on various events and opportunities presented to them in life.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):
Occurs after a traumatic experience. People have trouble processing and healing from that trauma. If triggered, PTSD may cause people to relive the traumatic episode, avoid certain situations or objects that remind them of the trauma and they generally come with feelings of fear or anxiety.
In instances where people are reminded of their trauma, they may react with aggression or depression which can create major hurdles in conducting daily business throughout life.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):
Is characterized by a feeling that you must complete certain daily rituals or risk harming yourself or loved ones.
For example, a person with OCD may feel compelled to wash their hands continuously, perhaps for fifteen minutes or more, to prevent an imagined deadly disease. OCD can be identified by compulsions that are not based in reality, but cause excessive stress in the individual.
Sometimes, these compulsions may be innocuous and rarely create issues. However, in other cases, OCD can hinder & cause people to miss social or career opportunities.

Separation Anxiety Disorder:
Most cases occur with very young children but adults can also experience this common form of anxiety.
The symptoms of separation anxiety disorder are: worrying excessively about being away from loved ones; near-constant fear of losing a parent to a disease, death or natural disaster; avoiding leaving home for fear of separation from loved ones.
In some cases, it may be brought about by new situations, such as moving away from family, another large life changing experience or childhood trauma.

Phobias:
Are categorized by irrationality and avoidance behaviours in individuals. In fact, most people with phobias realise that their anxiety is not rooted in reality, & it’s difficult to rationalise & stop themselves from feeling that fear.
Among the common types of anxiety, phobias are among the most likely to affect an individual’s daily life.
The most common specific phobias include fears of:
Flying, snakes, insects, social events, open or closed spaces, heights, dogs. Left untreated, anxiety can lead to social isolation, stunted career growth, or even in extreme cases, substance abuse.

This is an extract from Judith Richard's recent article on Anxiety.
“In TRTP, Anxiety is viewed as a Symptom. It is not the issue, it’s a symptom of the issue. What is it a symptom of?
It is a symptom of the entire being feeling, ‘I’M NOT SAFE!!!’
And why do we feel, ‘I’m NOT Safe!’? Because some of the distressing events in our past have not been resolved, have not been stored correctly in long term memory.
Instead, those events are unconsciously being experienced as if they are still happening – and our body and our whole system continues to respond ‘As If’ those events are happening Now. Compounding UNRESOLVED distressing events can lead to Anxiety issues...."
