Well what a year 2022 is turning out to be!

We've been a bit behind the 8-ball with our social media lately - so we thought we'd reintroduce ourselves.

F'erin Disability Support started as a see a need and fill a need for our first participant, Erin. From there the company now known as F'erin Disability Support started. We've continued to grow and learn, taking on new participants and staff and we can not wait to see what the rest of 2022 and the future hold.

We are so excited to see a very special Sunshine Coast mum start a new adventure! Danie is absolutely phenomenal and, as a mum to a beautiful little girl with additional needs, she truly understands the need for this business on the coast!

Congratulations Danie and family, we can’t wait to see how high you fly x

Sharing for our little community.

Please remember to also download your vaccination certificate before you venture out to the pub for lunch or a movie date this weekend.

You can also add it to your check in app and wallet (on apple).

Stay safe friends.

📢 From 1am Saturday 18 December, face masks will be required across Queensland.

We know masks may not feel natural or comfortable, but now that our borders are open for loved ones, masks have a role to play as COVID-19 cases increase.

When you couple masks with social distancing 📏 washing your hands regularly 🙌 and getting vaccinated 💉 the protection you give yourself and others matters.

😷 You must wear in the below locations 👇

🛒 Shops and retail centres
🏥 Hospitals and aged care
🚆 Public transport
🚕 Rideshare vehicles
✈️ Airports and planes

One bonus to the festive season is the increased number of sensory activities available 🎄

🌌 Roma Street parklands in Brisbane has an enchanting light display and we highly recommend going if you and/or your child enjoys these sorts of sensory activities.

🎧 Now bright lights can be over stimulating for some especially if there is a lot of noise or people around so we do suggest bringing some noise cancelling headphones. This should hep limit overstimulation.

🌻 There are also some beautiful gardens to look at and smell so there is something to satisfy all of your sensors.

🛤 If you live near by, why not set aside a day to step away from the busyness of life, catch a train into the city and walk around a beautiful park for a few hours. And there are plenty of places to eat near by.

Respite trips are one of the vital support services offered by Ferin, they allow for the parents to have some days off and our participants get to experience new and diverse environments and activities.
These are some photos from our most recent respite trip away.
🌻 This time we went away to Toowoomba for the carnival of flowers and stayed at a beautiful homestead just outside of Toowoomba.
☃️ While the temperatures dropped quite dramatically after the sun went down the beautiful views and animals made it all worth it.
🐐 Today we've include a wonderful photo of our director Jaqueline Watkins loving that country life & feeding the baby goats.
🛣 Where would you go for a respite trip?

It was empowering to see the public support for our paralympians when we all found out they weren't going to be paid after winning a medal. The news of the pay gap between the olympians and paralympians highlighted that there is still a long road to equality for people with a disability.

However the news from last week that the paralympians will now receive the same bonus pay for winning a medal. This has been a step in the right direction form the Australian government to show support and recognition to our paralympic athletes.
On behalf of F'erin Disability Support we would like to offer our heartfelt congratulations to all Australian athletes who competed and received a medal during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

PA chief executive Lynne Anderson said our Paralympians "absolutely deserve equity across the board, including reognition and respect".
"To see equal medal recognition with their Olympic counterparts become a reality demonstrates tangible proof of what they are advocating for and real hope for a more inclusive future.”

With South East Queensland in one of its
most strict lockdowns, our support workers are doing everything we can within the guidelines to continue to provide support to the vulnerable in our community.

🚧 We know how challenging lockdown can be and how important it is to maintain some sort of routine. So we are helping with homeschooling activities and other activities that can be done at home to keep the mind and body busy 🧘🏻‍♀️

☎️ If you can please check on the vulnerable around you - maybe you know someone with a disability or an elderly person or someone living alone, and make sure they are doing ok during this lockdown. Remember even if you can’t physically visit someone, try FaceTime or zoom to get some human interaction.

🌻 Stay safe and hopefully we can all come out of this lockdown on Sunday 🤞

Welcome to F’erin!

I thought I would start our social media page off with an introduction.

F’erin was inspired by and created for the phenomenally beautiful young woman in the photo with me below. It truly was a see-a-need, fill-a-need company that has grown exponentially since we started. We now have a brilliant, passionate and driven team who want to change the disability industry one NDIS plan at a time!

To learn more and see what we offer please check out our website;

www.ferindisabilitysupport.com

And share the page!

Without your help, we can’t help! Thanks for coming along on this journey and supporting our dream.
