What I’ve learned about overthinking in 2025.

1. Overthinking is usually projection, not reality
we overthink things that haven’t happened, we’re usually projecting fears, expectations, or past experiences onto the future.
The mind fills in gaps with imagined scenarios, many of which are unlikely or completely unreal.
Our mind isn’t broken—it’s just trying to protect us based on what it perceives as a threat.

2. The mind exaggerates when we’re emotionally imbalanced
overthinking increases when we:
• Put something or someone on a pedestal
• Fear loss, rejection, or failure
• See more downsides than upsides (or vice versa)

This imbalance causes the brain to loop and creates catastrophic thoughts.

My solution: bring the mind back into balance

Rather than fighting thoughts, ask quality questions, like:
• “How specifically is this thought not true?”
• “What are the upsides if this situation actually happened?”
• “What evidence do I have right now that this is real?”

This process reduces emotional charge and stops mental looping.

REMEMBER Overthinking isn’t weakness—it’s misdirected focus, my biggest 2025 learning was
• The same mind that overthinks can be used for strategy, creativity, and problem-solving
• The issue isn’t thinking too much, but thinking without clarity or balance
