-Walk to work-
Something I’ve worked on with clients is establishing boundaries around working from home. There are many great ways to help with this, and I’ve found “Walking to Work” really useful. I’m usually met with a puzzled face when I suggest walking to work, and the standard reply is, “but I work from home, Noel”. This is precisely my point. It’s about changing the way we see our home during working hours. Let says you usually work the standard 9 am to 5 pm. Well, how about you leave the house at 8:30 and walk to work. That building you left at 8:30 am was your home, but when you arrive back at 9 am, it is now your work building. When you go inside, there’s no pottering around or putting on a quick wash. Head straight to your designated workspace and set about you’re pre-set work plan. Take your standard breaks during the day, and at 5 pm, we pack away our work and leave the work building to walk home again. It’s a great way to establish boundaries and gives us time to leave work at work to be fully present at home.

Learning how to harness and use the resources available to you is vital. You can always add to your resources too. It could be seeing a therapist, reading and listening to podcasts. Quite often it's just slowing down and looking at life as it happens right in front of you. Make the time for your mental health by making time for you!
