LEADERSHIP IN THE FITNESS INDUSTRY!

To be a good leader in the fitness industry, you need to have a strong understanding of fitness and a genuine passion for helping others reach their goals. Here are some things I stand by as being a personal trainer:

1. Be knowledgeable and stay current with industry trends and research.
2. Be approachable and accessible to your clients and make solid relationships with them.
3. Set clear goals and expectations for your clients, and help them create a realistic and achievable plan for attaining those goals.
4. Use positive reinforcement and motivation to encourage your clients.
5. Be patient, empathetic, and compassionate towards your clients, especially when they're struggling.
6. Show creativity and flexibility in your training approaches, and be willing to adapt and adjust as needed.
7. Lead by example and embody the traits and habits you want your clients to adopt.
8. Continuously learn and grow yourself, and seek out opportunities for professional development and training.

CLIENT SHOUT OUT!

Iv been working with Ree for about 6 months now, mostly focussing I her knee rehab.

BE THE HARDEST WORKER IN YOUR WORKPLACE!

Are you a leader in your workplace? Do you set the example not only at work but at home? Are you doing the work on the outside to be the example on the inside?

You won’t find any professionals at the top of their game that done put time into themselves, ever!

Training helps in an incredible amount of ways, the population knows this, especially when it was rammed down our throats during the pandemic. So why aren’t you still doing it regularly?

If your version of success is being a better partner, friend or business person then making a set training routine is absolutely essential simple as that.

From doing so you become:
- clearer thinker
- More organised
- Healthier
- Stronger
- Fitter
- Better sleeper
- Better lover
- Better person
- Happier

Who doesn’t want this??

WE DID IT!

Been a while between big runs but we got it done! Bloody hard work running 30k through trails at 1:30pm in the heat.
Good things come from being uncomfortable in the moment because the feeling you get when you’re done is something you don’t get regularly.
Well done to my running partner Matty I couldn’t have done it without you brother 💪

FEAR OF NOT TRAINING BEING A MUM

Let’s face it, being a mother who spends all day looking after kids who are pre preschool is bloody exhausting and the time to put effort into yourself is limited. Especially training!

It’s absolutely critical to make time and make the best of what you have available when it comes to training as a mum.

You don’t have to not train just because you aren’t a member of a gym. Make the most of your surroundings. If it means you time your training around a visit to the park or smash out a quick workout while your child is having a midday sleep then so be it.

Obviously it’s physically rewarding but more so do for your mental health. Do it for you! You’ll feel better about yourself and ultimately you’ll be a happier person for your kids and partners.

My challenge to you is to find 20-30 minutes a day if you’re a stay at home parent and see how you can include a workout for yourself within your current daily routine 👍 you got this!

THE PLANK

This is 100% top 3 exercises I see done incorrectly on a day to day basis. I’ve used the picture 👆 to define a correct plank in comparison to an incorrect version.

Just because you can hold yourself up doesn’t mean you “held a plank for 5 minutes”

You’ll see here that the person at the front has her elbows and shoulders at 90 degrees.
Her hip is posteriorly tilted which means she’s not dipping down as her abdominals are braced. This is correct technique.

Looking at the arrows on the second person. You can see her elbows are way out in front not under her shoulders. Her hips are high in the air which is all lower back, quads and hip flexors. While she is able to stay up, the correct muscles are not working here.

My point is that if you want to use this exercise for core strength then it must be done correctly. If you can’t stay up in that way for long then it’s better to fold than push through involving in correct muscle groups.

Think of the weight through your elbows to be similar to the weight through your toes. When this is done and correct technique applied your core should be on fire 🔥👍

FEARS BEHIND TRAINING AND FITNESS

So often I hear of stories and people telling me of their fear to go into a gym and start training. “It’s intimidating and I don’t know what I’m doing” is the most general reason I find.

Next to that I often hear about bad experiences in which it has turned that person negative and the gym priority falls to the floor.

I would encourage you to give it a go or another try if either one of the above 👆 is you!

It would be my pleasure to start your training journey with you either if it’s your first go at it or if you’ve had a bad experience previously.

Having a trainer that is knowledgeable and can relate to your goals while getting you fit, healthy, confident and happy is absolutely essential 😊

MINDSET AND APPLYING IT TO YOUR HEALTH

What are you currently doing to improve your health on a daily basis?
Let’s face it, all of us want to improve in this area as we know it carries through to a better everyday life experience.

We are never too old to learn of new content to better ourselves when it comes to our health and wellbeing. I find that being your own biggest critic and assessing where you’re at not only keeps you accountable to yourself but improves your drive and mindset!

Iv spoken many times of goal setting and having the determination and perseverance to chase these down, even when life throws you curb balls makes the journey more rewarding when those goals get reached.

Dissect where you’re at and how you can improve and don’t ever be to afraid to reach out to others for help and guidance.

Document one thing to do with bettering your health and work at it, no matter how big or small because something is better than nothing to begin with 😊 you got this!

OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

Bali 2002

If only I knew then what I know now!
I have a unique story which in tale cost 202 people’s lives, 88 which were Australians
Unfortunate and fortunate is what underlines my story. I was 18 years old.

On 12 October I was in paddy’s nightclub upstairs when a su***de bomber detonated which caused mass destruction in the building I was in. Thankfully I was on the first floor. Amongst the chaos I ran downstairs and grabbed 2 girls who were hysterical and ran back upstairs as the bottom was completely on fire. With no option I chose to jump out of the window with the 2 girls and was lucky to escape. What met me and my mates who were already outside was something that I can’t ever unsee.

After that night I put that experience in the memory bank and that’s where it remained for years with not addressing the situation. I wasn’t aware that this was the catalyst for self destruction years later that lasted 15 about years.

My point for this post is that there are tools and people you can use to make sure your path to overcoming extreme situations is a smoother path than mine. Speak out and get advice from others that have been through it. I wish I had that opportunity sooner that’s for sure.

If your looking to overcome adversity weather it’s in your corporation, workplace, group or personally I’d love you to reach out🙏

LEADERSHIP IN THE WORKPLACE

What are you doing outside of your work hours to ensure you’re getting the best out of yourself? Leadership takes more than having the knowledge and skill set in your field.

In order to get better at your skill set and being a standout and leader you must do the work outside of work.

Putting the time into areas such as:

Organisation - Tie up loose ends the day/night before

Preparation - prepare a list of things to do first thing that day pre work

Recovery - 7/8 hours sleep consistently

Exercise - make time to put into yourself both physically and mentally, make this non negotiable

Nutrition - you only get out of what you put in here so expecting optimal results on poor food choices and minimal hydration is unrealistic.

When the above is taken care of your productivity drives leadership both at work and home. Set the example and be the driving force in your workplace!

Reach out for more information on how I can help you make that next step 💪🔥

MINDSET AND WHERE YOUR CURRENTLY AT

How often do we get in that mouse wheel mindset of doing the same things day in day out with not much light at the end of the tunnel?

Making changes that enhance your current environment is a great way of creating a better mindset. Let me give you some examples of how my mindset has completely changed, still maintain focus on my current lifestyle:

-Was dabbling in getting my business to its best with no real clarity
(I hired a business coach)

-Had the thought of going back to university
(Made the appointment to meet with a career advisor and applied)

-Went to sleep when I was ready generally
(Keep a diary of my sleep every day)

-Eat when I get the chance based on my nutrition knowledge
(Track my macros every day sticking to the set numbers based on my current goal)

The examples above have put me in a fantastic mindset as well as some other changes and I couldn’t recommend you doing something similar obviously taking the things you already do and getting more out of them 👍

Things like relationships, health, family and business all start to shift in the positive direction which is what we all strive for!

Ask yourself “what are some changes i can make to enhance my mindset”?

HABITS

What positive habits do you have give you forward momentum through the day?

Habits and consistency go hand in hand and when applied in a positive sense, you’ll find that starting the day with a consistent routine for example will set you up for an effective and efficient day!

Here’s some habits I use to begin and carry on a successful week day:

-Wake up an hour earlier that when I start my first client

-Always drink a litre of water directly after with multivitamins

-Make the bed (if Emily has gone to train early)

-Look over my days tasks and add anything that comes to mind that needs doing (I have the most clarity at this time of the day)

-Leave for work 20 minutes before I start to gather my thoughts and get pumped for my day

-Complete 20,000 steps every day

-get a weights session in no matter how big or small, based on the time available

Obviously everyone has different schedules and different ways of going about there day but these principles above can generally work for everyone 😊👍
