🌸 Meet Karen – Our Breast Care Nurse 🌸

1. What do you love most about working in breast cancer care?
Working as a breast care nurse is very rewarding and fulfilling. It is an honour to form a relationship with patients and their families, and, as part of a team, support and guide them from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.

2. What’s one thing you wish more women (or families) knew about breast health or support?
I wish that more people knew how to access reliable information about breast health. This could be either a medical practitioner or websites such as Breast Cancer Network Australia. Reliable information can dispel myths and rumours. Vital information includes the significance of risk factors, the importance of early detection through self awareness and screening, and the benefits of early treatment.

3. What’s something that brings you joy outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family (which includes three gorgeous grandchildren). I enjoy gardening and all the wonderful things that the Sunshine Coast offers our community.
