Our adrenals and ovaries/testes share a beautiful and delicate relationship. You've probably heard that chronic stress can throw our hormonal balance off-kilter, impacting both our fertility and overall well-being. When we're stressed, our body releases cortisol, which, in excess, can disrupt reproductive hormones such as estrogen testosterone and progesterone.

Embracing stress management techniques, such as soothing mindfulness meditation, calming deep breathing exercises, or gentle practices like yoga or tai chi, can work wonders in reducing stress levels and supporting a healthy hormone balance. Consistent physical activity, ample sleep, nature time and finding that balance between work and personal life are equally essential.

Prioritising self-care and finding activities that bring us relaxation can be incredibly nurturing. Remember, managing stress positively influences not only our hormonal balance but also our overall health. (How good does it feel to be truly relaxed!?)

Understanding the menstrual cycle and its connection to hormonal shifts can be a game-changer for overall health. Guided by hormones including oestrogen and progesterone, the menstrual cycle provides valuable clues about hormonal balance and fertility.

By tracking the cycle and noticing changes in cervical mucus, basal body temperature, energy levels, and mood, it becomes easier to get a clearer picture of hormonal health. Apps like Flo and Clue, or even simple charting, can help with this process. Working with a hormone-focused naturopath can also be a great support for fertility awareness.

Spotting irregularities in the cycle can highlight potential hormonal imbalances, paving the way to address them and restore harmony. Tuning into the body’s natural rhythms helps to create a stronger connection with health and fertility—because feeling good should be something we all experience.

Fuel your brain and support cognitive health with Omega-3 fatty acids! These essential fats are crucial for boosting Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), a protein that promotes neuron growth, communication, and overall brain function. Whether through food or supplements, incorporating Omega-3s into your routine can help nurture memory, learning, and mood regulation.

Best Sources:
💛 Fatty fish (e.g. salmon, mackerel, sardines) are the richest in EPA and DHA.
💛 Plant-based options (walnuts, flaxseeds, algae) provide ALA, which converts to EPA and DHA in small amounts.

Supplement Options:
💛Clean fish oil for those who don’t eat seafood.
💛Algae-based EPA and DHA supplements for vegetarians.

⭐ Pro Tip: We can measure your levels of health Omega-3 fatty acids with a simple finger prick test! I recommend this for people wanting to optimise their Omega-3 status.

When you're trying to conceive, learning about your body’s natural monthly rhythms can truly feel empowering. Many women only start to understand their menstrual cycle phases as they decide to start a family. Ovulation is the key time in your cycle when you're most fertile, so understanding when it happens and how to know this can make a big difference.

Tracking your basal body temperature, tracking your cycle dates, noticing changes in your cervical mucus, and using ovulation kits are some of the best tools to give you a clearer idea of your most fertile days. Becoming aware of these shifts can really connect with your body and take the guesswork out of trying to conceive.

I know it can be overwhelming to navigate all of this on your own. Everyone’s body is different, and that’s why having someone by your side, like a naturopath, can really make things easier. If you’re looking for a more personalised and holistic approach to understanding your fertility, I’d be honoured to support you.

Let’s take this journey together. Book a consultation today and let’s start working towards your goal.

FUN FACT: A woman’s egg (oocyte) is only viable to be fertilised for up to 24 hours after ovulation BUT a man’s s***m can live for up to 5 days in the female reproductive tract waiting for this event!

Weight loss can often feel like a minefield, especially when you seem to be doing all the right things, and it doesn’t seem to be only about calories in and calories out. When it comes to fertility, the right food can make a big difference. The good news is nature has already provided us with some amazing fertility-friendly fruits. Plant foods contain thousands of phytonutrients that have powerful and diverse effects on general health and fertility and fruits can be a powerful addition to any preconception plan.

For example, berries like blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries are full of specific antioxidants that help protect eggs and s***m from oxidative stress. Then there’s the bright and zesty citrus fruits. Oranges, lemons, and grapefruits that are high in vitamin C and compounds that are relatives of Vitamin C that are also antioxidant and help with hormone regulation and ovulation.

Have you ever tried pomegranates? These are a powerhouse of powerful phytonutrients and not only are they delicious, but they also improve blood flow to the uterus. This powerful fruit, full of antioxidants, has been considered a fertility booster for centuries.

And let’s not forget pineapple and papaya! With bromelain and papain enzymes that help reduce inflammation and support general fertility. They’re also known to support embryo implantation, making them a great addition to your diet if you’re trying to conceive.

The beauty of these fruits is that they’re both tasty and nurturing for your body. So, why not enjoy a few servings a day?

Simple lifestyle changes like these, plus some additional support, can work wonders for your health. If you’re looking for personalised advice on boosting your fertility, I’d love to help. Book a consultation with me today! www.vanessalamaro.com.au

When a couple’s trying to conceive, the focus so often lands on the woman. Her cycle, her hormones, her age. But male fertility is just as important, and it’s something I see overlooked all the time.

The truth is, s***m health plays a huge role in conception. And yes, there are things you can do to improve it. Things like nutrition, stress management, lifestyle habits, and even limiting exposure to certain chemicals can make a real difference.

This isn’t about blame or pressure. It’s about understanding how both sides contribute, and giving the body what it needs to function at its best.

Let’s chat about how you can improve your fertility naturally. I’m here to help guide you through it. (Link in bio)

Maybe you’ve been dealing with something for a while. Low energy, weird gut stuff, cycle changes, or just feeling off. And someone suggests seeing a naturopath. So you Google it
and now you’re even more unsure.

What do naturopaths actually do? Is it just vitamins and food plans? Will someone finally listen properly?

Here’s the truth.

Working with a naturopath is about being seen as a whole person. Not just your symptoms, but your story, your lifestyle, your stress, your sleep. It’s a gentle process, with support that’s made for you, not a one-size-fits-all list of things to cut out or fix.

If you’ve been thinking about giving it a go, you don’t need to have it all figured out first. That’s what we work on together.

If this feels like something you’ve been thinking about, or you’re just curious to know more, I’d love to share some insights and let's see how naturopathy can support you. Book a free discovery session with me today. (Link in bio)

Let's be honest, everyone wants beautiful skin. It's your statement to the world. What people see first.

So what should you do to get the healthiest glow possible?

It's quite simple really. Apart from having a good skin care regime (natural of course!) and avoiding excessive sun (especially on your face and decollate), you need to feed your skin from the inside!

Here's a handful of my favourite foods to help you eat your way to beauty.

Tell me, what's your favourite?

I’ve learned that most men don’t need a lecture. They need clarity, practical steps, and a reminder that their wellbeing truly matters. When energy dips, sleep gets messy, stress builds, or the body starts sending subtle warnings, it’s usually a sign that the basics need a reset. And those basics make a bigger difference than most people realise.

Moving your body for just half an hour a day can sharpen focus and boost mood. Prioritising real, uninterrupted sleep gives your heart and hormones a chance to recalibrate. Choosing cleaner food and reducing alcohol clears inflammation and supports everything from strength to fertility. Even becoming more mindful of toxins. Smoke, chemicals, and heavy metals can shift long-term health in the right direction. And then there’s the mental load. Stress hits hard, even when it’s hidden, so taking small breaks from pressure isn’t a luxury, it’s essential.

If you’re feeling off-track or want to rebuild your health in a grounded, sustainable way, I’m here to support you with personalised steps that actually fit your life.
