Round 1 Supercross count down. Lots of people ask what we do with riders and why we do it. Short answer “to get to the line at round 1”
- Super cross isn’t something our Australian riders do a lot of and the prevalence of injuries during training is so high it’s not funny.
- To be able to build the required strength in specific areas without impeding on practice is paramount.
- If they hit the ground they are physically strong enough not to break like a twig

The best way to hurt yourself is to pile as much as possible on your plate and go flat out all day everyday or something like that.

Super cross or motocross. Pro or beginner. Fatigue and load management play a crucial role in being able to perform your best and safely progress. Varying loads and intensities dependant on your skills training schedule allows the body to adapt. Being sore after a workout isn’t always essential. It’s 2025 and we have technology that takes all this guess workout. Let’s buy a smart watch and learn how to use it instead of a set of triple clamps.

I like to think I want to be the guy that everyone asks “who is he and what does he actually do” when I’m at the track. Truth is I don’t.
What I actually do when I’m out at the MX nationals 💁‍♂️
- Assistance with mindset and an independent set of eyes looking at a problem. Preparation techniques race evaluation. Eyes on the prize.
- Nutritional advice. Making sure our riders have a full tank.
- Data collection for training programs to improve outcomes.
- Fatigue management.
- Hand on recovery. Arm pump and psychological benefits.
- Warm up preparation. Warming up the racers engine.
- General away from mx banter to help regrounding and focus.
A lot of the work we do is done behind closed doors and not instagram pretty, but our race day extra mile is what sets us apart from your standard “sports specific personal trainer”. And a few years of university study but that’s a story for another day 😜
