Wednesday Meditation is on my personal page tomorrow at 12pm AEST and this one is close to my heart

It's about Loving Kindness Meditation

You know your inner critic, the one that is always yapping in your ear that you should do more or better? It used to be a very good friend of mine and it still makes an occasional guest appearance.

However, Loving Kindness meditation was one of the tools that helped me to let that voice go. It is one of the most powerful tools for softening that inner critic, the one that is always a little too quick to remind you of your shortcomings.

Tomorrow we are turning that voice down and directing some genuine warmth inward. Because you cannot pour from an empty cup, and being kind to yourself is not a luxury, it's self-care.

3 things you can do in under 60 seconds to settle your nervous system:

1. Slow your exhale. Breathe in for4 and breathe out for 6. Do 3-5 rounds of this.

2. Ground with your Senses (Look-Listen-Move). First notice and name 3 things you can see, then 3 things you can hear and finally move 3 different body parts such as rotating your wrists, wriggling your fingers and walking on the spot. This is all about redirecting your mind to other activities.

3. Grounding With Your Feet. Stand with both feet flat on the floor. Notice the contact the feet have with the ground below. If it feels okay, slowly start to sway gently forward and backward. Notice how the weight shifts across the feet with the gentle movement.

That's it.

You can do these throughout the day, not just when you're already overwhelmed.

Preventing dysregulation is always easier than recovering from it.

And if you want tools that go deeper than 60 seconds, that's what we do together in session.

Save this and try one right now. Tell me which one you picked ☺️

Sarah came in for a session and noticed something unexpected afterwards.

Her neck wasn't as stiff and she felt light. Deeply relaxed in a way that surprised her.

This happens more than people expect.

When we shift something at the subconscious level, the body often responds physically. Tension that has been held for years starts to release and the body exhales.

This is not co-incidence, this is the biology of safety.

When the nervous system stops bracing, the body stops holding.

If you've been carrying physical tension that won't shift no matter what you do, it might be worth asking what the body is holding onto.

The gut microbiome and the brain are in constant conversation.

What lives in your gut influences your mood, your concentration, your stress response, even your sleep.

And in the other direction, chronic stress changes the composition of the microbiome, reducing the diversity of beneficial bacteria and contributing to gut symptoms.

For people with IBS, this loop can feel very stuck. But there is help:

Hypnotherapy works on the nervous system and subconscious driving the gut's hypersensitivity. And naturopathy addresses the microbiome directly through diet, probiotics, prebiotics and herbal support.

You are what you eat, yes. But More importantly, you are also what you feel. And both need attention.

Save this and share with anyone navigating IBS or gut issues

When was the last time you did something just for you?

Just for the sheer pleasure of it.

If you're struggling to answer that, it might be because somewhere along the way you learned that your needs come last. That wanting things for yourself is selfish and that rest needs to be earned.

Those beliefs didn't appear out of nowhere. They were learned and they can be unlearned.

You are allowed to be on your own priority list. And no, not at the bottom or after everything else is done.

Actually, genuinely on the list.

Tell in the comments, what's one thing you'd do just for you tomorrow?

"I've always been an anxious person. It's just who I am."

I want to gently push back on this one.

Anxiety is not a personality trait. It is a learned response, and often a very logical one given what you've been through.

But learned responses can be unlearned.

The subconscious mind is remarkably adaptable. With the right approach, patterns that have been in place for decades can genuinely shift, sometimes in just a few sessions.

You are not your anxiety. You are not your overwhelm. You are not the patterns that have kept you small.

You are the person underneath all of that. And she is very much worth meeting.

Share this with someone who needs to hear it.

Your nervous system controls your gut. Completely.

When it is stuck in stress mode, everything changes. Gut motility slows down or speeds up. Sensitivity increases. The gut becomes reactive and unpredictable.

This is why anxiety and IBS so often show up together. It is not a coincidence. It is biology.

So if you have been following the diet, doing all the right things, and still struggling, it might be time to look at the nervous system.

Combining naturopathy and hypnotherapy, I work with both. Because the gut and the brain are always in conversation, and treating one without the other only gets you so far.

Curious whether this could be what's keeping you stuck? Let's talk. 💙

Wednesday Meditation is on my business page tomorrow at 12pm AEST and this week we're leaning into the season.

Autumn is nature's reminder that letting go is not only natural, it's often necessary. And yet for most of us, releasing what no longer serves us is one of the hardest things to do.

Tomorrow's free meditation is an Autumn Release. A gentle 10-15 minutes to help you soften, breathe, and let go of whatever you've been carrying a little too tightly lately.

Where: https://www.facebook.com/srother2/
When: Wednesday (tomorrow) at 12pm AEST.

No experience needed, just bring yourself.

See you there

The stress response was designed to save your life.

Not to manage your inbox, the school run, and a passive aggressive email from your boss.

But your nervous system doesn't know the difference.

It treats every perceived threat the same, flooding the body with cortisol and adrenaline and putting you on high alert.

The problem is that for many of us, this response is firing constantly.

A body stuck in fight-or-flight doesn't rest well, doesn't digest well, holds weight differently, and can't access calm clear thinking.

Learning to regulate this response is one of the most important things you can do for your long-term health. Not just mentally, but physically too.

Save this. And if you want to know what tegulation actually looks like, send me a DM

Friday:

Do you still feel exhausted after a full night's sleep?

It's not because you need more sleep.

It's because your nervous system didn't actually get to switch off.

When the body is in a low-grade stress state, even rest doesn't fully replenish. The tank doesn't refill. Every day starts a little more depleted than the last.

Real rest begins when the nervous system finally feels safe enough to soften.

This is one of the most common things I work with, and one of the most treatable.

And yes, this can change. Gently, safely, at your own pace.

You don't need a dramatic story to deserve healing.

Trauma isn't only the big, obvious events. It's also the small, repeated experiences that taught you something about yourself and the world.

Being told to stop crying. Learning that love had conditions. Growing up in a house where tension was the background noise. Never feeling quite good enough no matter what you did.

These experiences leave a mark. Not because you're weak. Because you're human.

And the nervous system, bless it, learned to adapt.

Those adaptations made sense once. But they don't have to run your life forever.

You just need to be ready to feel better.
