Women, when we can all look at each other and just say "beautiful" (regardless of size or physical attributes), the world of women will change.

Now change the word 'women' in the sentence above to 'people'. It applies to us all.

24 hour challenge:
Can you replace judgement with love? When you look at people let your first words be "beautiful". Every person. Try that on for size. It will change your world. It will change our world.

If meditation has ever felt frustrating, uncomfortable, or like you’re “doing it wrong” — there's a reason for it!

If you're being asked to persist with such a challenging task - one that's leaving you frustrated instead of peaceful - someone is doing you a disservice ...because this expectation is out of place.

I see this all the time.

How many people have tried meditation, thrown their arms in the air and given up on it, only to feel like a failure.😫

Contrary to popular approaches, sitting still in meditation and trying to focus attention is NOT the first port of call of meditation.

YET, many well-meaning meditation teachers throw the guantlet down promising rewards with persistence. Unfortunately, the majority of people walk away because the process is too excrutiating.

This is what drives me (a little🦇 sh crazy)...

Watching people miss out on the known benefits of meditation, simply because they've been misguided. This‼️ This ignites my fire.

Because there IS another way.

Precious kisses of course!! 💋
Now while some doggos get anxiety, Mojo is not one of them. He is the most chillaxed, content dog around. No nervous energy. Such a grounding presence.
Do you know people like that? The thing is, you can cultivate a more grounded presence. It starts with your body, and I'm here for you for that.

After a big break, I'm back guiding in person Therapeutic Stress Release classes. These classes are a potent fusion of somatic release and embodied meditation and one of the most profound tools for discharging physical, mental, and emotional tension.

Spotting subtle body language cues allows one to recognise low-grade symptoms in yourself and others. Nipping anxiety in the budd relies on being able to see unseen anxiety.

Vet your therapist. Rather that assume they can help you recover, ask them questions to find out if they can! They're not the only ones that get to ask questions!

Is meditation appropriate for anxiety & trauma clients? Yes and no.
Meditation has to be the right type and and ther right time. If meditation isn't working for you, it's likely you need to approach it in a different way (contrary to popular opinion, it's likely not going to be cross-legged observing the now!)
It could also be that you need to wait until you've mastered other preparatory practices before adding meditation to your healing journey.
But... "meditation" is an integral part of emotional healing

Your therapist isn't the only one who gets to ask questions!
There are a whole lot of specific questions you can ask your therapist before you commit to working with them...
"What is your method to recovery?" is one of such question. If their method is something you've tried before, you can then explore why it will work for you now? Can the method promise full recovery?

Is your therapist affordable? available? regularly supporting you?

If your therapist isn't supporting you between sessions, if the expense of therapy means you're skipping sessions, if your sessions are too far apart, if you are left to go it alone...
how will you manage challenging times that arise?
Therapy needs to meet the real challenges of clients. Let's change this!

Our Story

The Lounge is Redland's sanctuary for relaxation, and your place to let go life's concerns and unwind. Most of our students come to us to be nurtured - glad to find an 'inner connection' that they haven't found elsewhere. They aren't usually coming to get a 'work out'. As a dedicated yoga studio we don't offer pilates or yogalates. Nor do we offer hot or power yoga. Our space has no mirrors and we have no concern for what you can or can't do on the mat... because at the Lounge the journey isn't about the physical practice - that's just the tool we use to guide you back home to yourself and to your natural state of calm. The journey is an inward journey, one of self-realisation, making peace with yourself and with life. We offer classes that aid in the management of​ emotional and mental turbulence as well as physical imbalances, utilising tools of intelligent Movement, Meditation, Relaxation, Restorative Yoga, Mindfulness, Breath Work and Education. Collectively our teachers believe that with your commitment to a dedicated practice we can effectively guide you to a soulful place where you can experience greater ease of movement within your body, and within life itself. We share with you a depth of yoga integrated with our own unique & diverse healing backgrounds. We look forward to meeting you!
