A narcissistic friend is someone whose self-focus, lack of reciprocity, and need for validation create an imbalanced and emotionally draining friendship.

Despite providing stable homes, good educations, and endless opportunities, an entire generation of "perfect parents" accidentally created adults who can't tell the difference between feeling disappointed and feeling angry.

For neurodivergent brains, rest is not a reward.
It is a requirement.

Your brain processes more information at once.
More sensory input.
More emotional data.
More internal noise.

So what looks like “doing nothing” on the outside
Is often your nervous system trying to survive the load.

You don’t get tired because you’re lazy.
You get tired because your brain is always working.

Rest isn’t quitting.
It’s regulation.

Without enough rest, your system doesn’t just feel tired.
It becomes irritable.
Overwhelmed.
Anxious.
Disconnected.
Prone to shutdown or panic.

This is why pushing through eventually backfires.

Neurodivergent burnout doesn’t happen overnight.
It builds quietly
While you keep showing up
Keep masking
Keep coping
Keep saying “I’m fine”

Until your body forces a pause.

Rest is how your nervous system resets.
It’s how emotional intensity comes back down.
It’s how clarity returns.
It’s how you stay functional.

You don’t need to earn rest.
You don’t need to justify it.
You don’t need to explain why you’re tired.

Your brain simply needs more recovery time
Because it runs harder than most.

That is not a flaw.
That is how you’re wired.

Listening to that need
Is not weakness.

It’s wisdom

To all my clients, hoping that today brings you moments of joy. It's been a privilege to work with you all and bear witness to the amazing changes you have made this year.
May next year be easier and your struggles less arduous.
Thinking of you all, thanking you for your honesty and willingness to heal.
Remember to be gentle with yourself at this time as always.
You are amazing and courageous.
