Congratulations to Eileen Morath who recently celebrated 40 years of service at SHDH!
Eileen completed her Nursing and Midwifery training at the Footscray Hospital. She then worked in the Special Care Nursery, and at the Greenvale Geriatric Centre, in addition to becoming a mother of three herself.
Eileen then returned home, and commenced working at SHDH in 1985, and in 1987 in the Midwifery Department, where she devoted the next 37 years.
Supporting natural birthing and helping mothers to breastfeed were Eileenโs greatest strengths and she was so appreciated by mothers. Her colleagues have loved working with Eileen and her endless energy, efficiency, and encouragement; she has truly been a friend to all.
Eileenโs 40 years of service have seen her deliver babies, and their babies!!
Eileen retired from Midwifery and is now enjoying a life of golf and travel. She also continues to work casually as a nurse immuniser where she enjoys interacting with babies, mothers and SHDH staff.
A huge thank you to Eileen for her service to maternity care and the women and families of the Swan Hill region and beyond.
