We are excited to launch our new Paediatric Nurse led Clinic right here at SHDH.

The Paediatric Nurse can assist with:

โ€ข gathering of relevant information to support referral and consultation
โ€ข liaison with GP and Paediatric services
โ€ข attending Paediatrician telehealth appointment with client
โ€ข support with follow-up Paediatrician and GP appointments, including support with service navigation and treatment education.

Congratulations to Eileen Morath who recently celebrated 40 years of service at SHDH!

Eileen completed her Nursing and Midwifery training at the Footscray Hospital. She then worked in the Special Care Nursery, and at the Greenvale Geriatric Centre, in addition to becoming a mother of three herself.

Eileen then returned home, and commenced working at SHDH in 1985, and in 1987 in the Midwifery Department, where she devoted the next 37 years.

Supporting natural birthing and helping mothers to breastfeed were Eileenโ€™s greatest strengths and she was so appreciated by mothers. Her colleagues have loved working with Eileen and her endless energy, efficiency, and encouragement; she has truly been a friend to all.

Eileenโ€™s 40 years of service have seen her deliver babies, and their babies!!
Eileen retired from Midwifery and is now enjoying a life of golf and travel. She also continues to work casually as a nurse immuniser where she enjoys interacting with babies, mothers and SHDH staff.

A huge thank you to Eileen for her service to maternity care and the women and families of the Swan Hill region and beyond.

October is international pregnancy and infant loss awareness month and last week we joined families and communities around the world in honouring the lives of babies gone too soon during the โ€œWave of Lightโ€ on October 15th. Lead by our Midwifery Department, at 7pm, we lit candles across our services in remembrance- a small flame carrying the weight of so much love, loss and hope.

An important occasion close to the heart of many, meant that this event was well supported across the board and the team here at SHDH were honoured to light a candle to remember the little ones who are no longer with us.

A reminder that we are never truly alone in our grief.
