💙 19 November is International Men’s Day — a reminder to support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our community.

Men often delay check-ups or ignore early symptoms. Regular health reviews can help identify concerns early and support long-term wellbeing.

Key areas of men’s health to stay on top of:
✔️ Blood pressure and heart health
✔️ Mental health check-ins
✔️ Prostate health discussions (based on age, symptoms and family history)
✔️ Diabetes risk factors
✔️ Skin checks — especially for men working outdoors
✔️ Healthy lifestyle habits (sleep, diet, physical activity)

Taking charge of your health doesn’t have to be complicated — and you don’t need to wait for a problem to book an appointment.

💬 If it’s been a while since your last check-up, consider using today as a reminder.
Our GPs are here to provide a supportive space to talk about your health at any stage of life.

🌙 Sleep isn’t a luxury — it’s a foundation of good health.
Getting enough restorative sleep supports almost every system in the body, from your immune function to your mood, energy, and long-term wellbeing.

Here’s why sleep matters for healthy ageing and longevity:
✨ Supports memory, focus and brain health
✨ Helps regulate hormones, appetite and metabolism
✨ Allows your body to repair tissues and strengthen immunity
✨ Reduces stress levels and supports emotional wellbeing

If you’re regularly feeling tired, having trouble falling asleep, or waking unrefreshed, your GP can help explore potential causes and discuss safe, evidence-based strategies to improve sleep.

🛏️ Small changes make a big difference
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Reduce caffeine later in the day
• Limit screen time before bed
• Create a cool, dark, quiet sleeping environment

If sleep is affecting your daily life, we’re here to support you with personalised guidance.

Movember isn’t just about moustaches — it’s about men’s minds. Men often struggle in silence. Reaching out isn’t weakness — it’s strength.

Your mental health matters as much as your physical health. 💬 If you’ve been feeling anxious, flat, or overwhelmed, reaching out for support is a strong first step. Try to get 30 minutes of outdoor activity daily and practice mindfulness. If symptoms persist, book a GP appointment to discuss a Mental Health Care Plan.

☀️ Australia's UV levels are already high! Before the summer holidays hit, book your skin check — early detection is the key to preventing skin cancer. Check your skin monthly using the ABCDE method and report any new or changing spots to your GP.

Asymmetry (one side doesn't match the other),
Border (irregular, notched, or blurred edges),
Color (multiple colours within the same mole),
Diameter (larger than 6mm, about the size of a pencil eraser), and
Evolving (changing in size, shape, or colour over time).

Any spot that fits these criteria should be evaluated by a doctor.

💨 Lung Cancer Awareness Month — November 2025

💬 Let’s shine a light on lung cancer this November.

Lung cancer is one of the most common — and deadliest — cancers in Australia. Around 15,000 Australians are diagnosed each year, and it remains the leading cause of cancer death.

While smoking is the biggest risk factor, lung cancer isn’t just a smoker’s disease. Other risks include second-hand smoke, air pollution, and workplace exposure to asbestos, diesel fumes, or silica dust. It can also affect people with a family history of the disease.

🩺 Early detection saves lives.
Lung cancer symptoms can be subtle and are often mistaken for other conditions like chest infections or asthma. See your GP if you experience:

A cough that doesn’t go away

Chest or shoulder pain

Shortness of breath or wheezing

Coughing up blood

Ongoing chest infections or unexplained fatigue.

Australia’s new National Lung Cancer Screening Program offers free low-dose CT scans every two years for people aged 50–70 who are at high risk.

By understanding the facts and reducing the stigma, we can help more Australians detect lung cancer early — and live longer, healthier lives.

🩺 Your Annual Health Check: The Smartest Investment in Your Future

Many of us only see our GP when something feels off. But one of the most powerful things you can do for your long-term health is to make your regular check-up part of your yearly routine.

✅ Move with Purpose: Keep your muscles and heart strong through regular activity you enjoy.
🍎 Fuel Your Body Well: Choose balanced meals with plenty of fresh produce and quality protein.
🧠 Look After Your Mind: Staying mentally active and socially connected supports healthy ageing.
💤 Prioritise Rest: Quality sleep helps your body repair and your mind recharge.
💬 Find Your Why: Having purpose and staying engaged in your community adds years and life to your years.

If you’re over 45, it’s a great time to check in with your GP.
