I have a clear memory of administering the CELF P2 (back in my uni days!) for the first time while on placement in a school. The whole time I was doing it, I was HOPING I was doing it right. I remember thinking, I don’t know what any of this means, but I HOPE I can find the answers somewhere afterwards.

The assessment DID give me clarity; however, I didn’t know how to make sense of all the data in a functional way.

The whole process was exhausting and didn’t leave me feeling empowered to help my child.

Not every Speechie is like me; however, if you are reading this and can relate, I created my masterclasses on the CELF P3 for you! I don’t want any Speechie to just be hoping or exhausted. I have learnt it doesn’t have to be this way and let’s work together right now to change that for you.

Scaled score points, confidence intervals, percentile rank CIs, GSVs — yes, they’re great for uni. But in the real world? We simply don’t have time to crunch data that won’t change our diagnosis or therapy plan.

They can be misleading between peers, don’t match neatly with raw or scaled scores, aren’t consistent across subtests, and can seriously skew your clinical reasoning — especially when you’re still learning.

If I could go back 15 years and give myself some advice, one of the things I would tell myself is to first, work on myself, then work on my clients and everything else around me.

⭐ Did you get feedback that has made you feel uneasy?

⭐ Is your work-life blend feeling impossible to get on top of?

⭐ Are you feeling overwhelmed?

⭐Are you struggling to stay on top of tasks?

Before finding a solution in your external environment, look inwards. Explore your thoughts, habits, and behaviours. Ask: are my thoughts hindering me or helping me?

Go and ask your mentor for help and their perspective.
