Rare Disease Day is observed every year on 28 February or 29 February in leap years, the rarest day of the year. It raises awareness about rare diseases and the real impact they have on individuals, families, and caregivers.
There are over 6,000 rare diseases, 72% are genetic, and 70% of these begin in childhood.
This yearโs theme, โMore Than You Can Imagine,โ reminds us that while each rare disease may be uncommon, collectively they touch millions of people worldwide. Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, a healthcare journey, and a story that too often remains unseen. Rare diseases can be genetic, infectious, environmental, allergies, or rare cancers and affect more than just health, including work, support, and daily life.
At Euroa Care, being Determined to be Different means we look beyond the diagnosis. We individualise support, advocate for inclusion, and stand alongside participants and families navigating complex journeys.
Remember, awareness starts with conversation.
