Words We Keep
To You,
I just wanted to send you a letter inviting you to a little gathering I’m hosting at Wilson Cafe in Surry Hills on Saturday 25th October, and I’d love you to come.
I’ve rediscovered the lost art of letter writing, and I wonder if you’d like it too- we can slow down together, read from an archive of famous old letters, maybe a fan letter, or a love letter and then we can write some of our own.
Alongside the letter you write there, you’ll also take home something extra - a little experiment in how words go viral, offline. The original way.
You’ll get paper, envelopes and stamps - everything you need to send your words on their way, whether it’s someone you love, your future self, or a note that’s been sitting quietly in the back of your mind.
Writing letters is similar to journaling, but where journaling turns us inwards, a letter asks us to look outwards- to think of others, to pause, to use parts of our brain we’ve stopped using when we’re scrolling - creativity, imagination, memory, even critical thinking.
There’s something grounding and deeply connective in the human of pen on page and the connection to who you write to.
It’s at 10-11 Ticket’s are $20 link in the bio
It’s a simple hour, but I promise it will feel good to put pen to paper again.
I love that feeling when you post the letter in the box and the wonder of your friend opening it. Who wouldn’t love to get a letter from somebody thinking of them? I’ve kept all of mine over the years.
Until we write again,
Jasmin
P.S Drop me a line! I’dlove to hear from you 💌
