New price cap for music and art therapy 🎵 🎨

🎨🎶 New NDIS Price Cap for Music & Art Therapy Announced

📉 Last year, the government proposed cutting the rate for these therapies from $194 to $68 an hour. This was not implemented due to backlash from the sector.

😟 NDIS families and providers were concerned that services might disappear from the scheme.

✅ After a full review, the government has confirmed that music and art therapy are effective supports and will remain in the NDIS.

💰 The new maximum rate will be $156.16 an hour – a reduction from $194, aligning with counselling rates.

📅 This change starts on 24 November 2025.
⚠️ Therapists must be qualified with a recognised professional association to charge this rate.

📊 In 2023–24, 6,788 participants accessed art therapy and 7,217 accessed music therapy through the NDIS.

⚖️ This update is part of broader NDIS reforms aimed at slowing scheme growth and standardising provider pricing.
