WHAT IS PROPRIOCEPTION? 👇

Ever noticed a child who seems to constantly seek movement - jumping, crashing, pushing or climbing - especially when they’re trying to settle or focus?

This often relates to proprioception, our body’s sense that tells us where we are in space and how our muscles and joints are moving.

For some children, activities like jumping, climbing, pushing, pulling or crashing into cushions provide important sensory input. This “heavy work” can help regulate their nervous system, improve body awareness and support a sense of calm.

Movement isn’t just play - for many kids, it’s an important way their bodies organise and regulate themselves. 🤸‍♀️

Today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

A day to celebrate neurodiversity and the many different ways people experience the world.

The autism spectrum isn’t linear - every autistic person is unique, with their own strengths, perspectives and ways of thinking, communicating and connecting.

Autism is simply a different way of experiencing the world, and that difference is something worth recognising, understanding and celebrating.
