The goal of this session was to improve the key qualities behind max speed. Positioning, switching, displacement, and reactivity.

This is part of the Mobilise → Activate → Perform framework, designed to help athletes move better, react faster, and perform at their peak.

If you’re an athlete (or weekend warrior) who wants to train smarter through the off-season, pre-season, or in-season, stay tuned, programs are coming soon.

Can’t wait?
DM me for personalised 1-on-1 coaching and we’ll build your speed from the ground up.

The gait cycle has 5 phases, and every joint plays a role.
Your muscles react to these positions to keep you moving smoothly.
By understanding your gait, you can pinpoint weaknesses and improve performance.
Let’s map out your body’s journey and optimise your movement for pain-free running!

“When our feet hurt, we hurt all over” is often attributed to Socrates, but there isn’t any historical evidence or documentation confirming that he actually said this. However, the sentiment of the quote is strong.

A bit of philosophy on this fine Thursday.
It’s long been understood that if our foundations are lacking, we can’t build a finely tuned machine above them. We can try, but eventually, those foundations won’t hold.

It starts with helping you understand what your feet should do. Then we can assess what you can and can’t do, giving us the information needed to build your base and fully utilize everything you’ve built above it.

The human foot 🦶🏼 is made up of 26 bones 🦴 that form 33 joints 🔗. These joints are designed to move!

I often describe the foot as the perfect suspension system - when it’s allowed to function naturally. However, arch support, cushioning, and orthotics dramatically hinder your foot’s natural ability to disperse and produce tension.

On impact with the ground, the joints on the underside of the foot should open up, creating a flatter and wider foot shape (known as pronation). As the foot begins to take off, the joints on the underside of the foot close, creating a higher arch shape (known as supination) that springs us into motion.

When our feet lack movement, we tend to rely more on cushioning, which in turn limits foot movement even further - creating a vicious cycle that can lead to pain elsewhere in the body as it tries to compensate with every step you take.

So, are you ready to restore your feet’s natural function?
