“When we stop labelling anxiety as ‘bad’ and instead meet it with curiosity, we open the door to healing.”

In this article, Ellie Vanderheide dives deep into what she calls “anxiety for anxiety” that spiral where we become afraid of feeling anxious itself. She explores why our minds and bodies react this way, and how learning to gently meet our sensations with awareness can begin to dissolve the fear.

It reminds us that anxiety isn’t something to fight, it’s something to understand. By turning toward our inner experience with curiosity and compassion, we can start to regulate our nervous system, build trust with our body, and feel more present and grounded in everyday life.

For centuries, mystics spoke of the body’s energy field. Then in 1994, the National Institutes of Health officially recognized “biofield” as a legitimate area of study. Two years later, researcher Eileen Day McKusick began mapping what she called the “Biofield Anatomy”—discovering that emotions and memories seem to organize themselves spatially around the body, like rings on a tree.

What ancient traditions knew intuitively, modern science is now measuring: our bodies generate electromagnetic fields that extend beyond our skin, fields that respond to sound, emotion, and trauma. Specific tones create measurable changes in these fields.

Biofield Tuning uses calibrated tuning forks to detect and shift distortions in your energy field. Think of it like tuning a piano that’s been gradually falling out of key—you might not notice each small shift, but eventually, the whole instrument sounds off. When practitioners find resistance or static in your biofield, they’re locating where your energy has essentially “stored” unprocessed experiences.
It’s a bridge between ancient intuition and modern measurement—a reminder that healing isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about listening differently, helping your system remember its own coherence.

Ready to experience it for yourself? We have certified Biofield Tuning practitioners available for in-person or distance sessions on our platform. 🔗 in bio

✨ Meet our judge: Jessica Maguire, Nervous System Expert, Author & Educator

We’re very excited to welcome Jessica Maguire to the panel for the 2025 Holistic Practitioner Awards.

With over a decade in clinical practice and extensive research into the autonomic nervous system and the vagus nerve, Jessica brings a clear, science-based perspective to holistic health.

Her journey began with a realisation that true healing starts with understanding how the body and brain communicate. This led her to study the nervous system deeply, uncovering how dysregulation can underlie so many of our physical and emotional symptoms.

Today, her mission is to help others discover the root causes of imbalance and support practitioners and clients alike in improving mental and physical health.

Jessica will be judging the categories of Mind-Body Practices, Holistic Counselling & Coaching, and Integrative Healing & Innovation.

Stay tuned as we introduce the reste of the judges and nominate yourself or someone you know by Nov 14th ✨

Every day, holistic practitioners across Australia hold space for others: quietly transforming lives, helping people reconnect with themselves, and bringing balance where there was pain.

Yet in an industry with little recognition, this important work often goes unseen.

That’s why we created the Holistic Practitioner Awards to honour those who embody skill, authenticity, and heart in their practice across the many paths of holistic care - from Energy Healing to Natural Medicine, Mind-Body Therapies, Coaching, and beyond.

You can nominate yourself or a practitioner you know through the link in our bio.

The way we connect, love, and respond to others often traces back to our earliest experiences of safety and care.
Attachment theory helps us understand why we react the way we do and more importantly, how we can begin to build healthier, more secure relationships with ourselves and those around us.

This article was created in collaboration with Elodie Vale, a counsellor who blends Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment work, and Mindfulness to help clients reconnect with their sense of safety and self-worth.

Introducing the Bodhi Monthly Community Discoveries ✨

We know that trying new holistic practices can sometimes feel like a big leap, especially when you’re not sure if it’s right for you. That’s why we created this initiative to make exploring easier (and more fun).

Each month, we spotlight new practitioners joining the Bodhi community and at the end of the month, anyone who’s booked with us will have the chance to receive a complimentary session with one of them.

If you’ve booked with us in August or September, you’ll also be included in this first round of discoveries. And if you haven’t booked yet, you have until the end of October to do so
From November onwards, only that month’s bookers will be eligible.

A little incentive to explore something new you never know what might be waiting for you

Let’s be real: holistic health gets misunderstood a lot. From “it’s just woo-woo” to “it’s only for the rich,” these myths keep people from accessing practices that actually work.

This is your reminder that holistic health can be practical, evidence-based, and accessible to everyone.
