Art Therapy Coming to Manly Feb 2024 !

Art therapy isn't just about creating beautiful masterpieces; it's a transformative tool that nurtures holistic development in our clients and their therapy journey . πŸ§‘πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨

Here are some of the ways in which an Art Therapist can support your child.

Expressive Communication: πŸ—£οΈ Art therapists provide a unique outlet for non-verbal communication, allowing young children and teenagers to express themselves through colors, shapes, and textures when words may be a challenge.

Sensory Integration: πŸ–ŒοΈ Art activities help children develop sensory awareness and regulate their responses to the world around them.

Social Skills Development: 🀝 Through collaborative art projects, children learn valuable social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, and cooperation. Art therapy becomes a bridge for forming connections and building relationships with peers and caregivers.

Emotional Regulation: 🌟 Artistic expression empowers children to explore and manage their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Art therapists play a key role in guiding them through the process, fostering emotional resilience and self-awareness.

πŸ‘€ What is Joint attention?
Joint attention is when a child switches or shares their attention between an object and us! Joint attention is shown when kids laugh with us in games, respond to their name, pointing/showing us items or coordinate looks between play items and people.

🌟Why is it important?
With joint attention, children are able to share enjoyment and learn from their play partner. This is one of the most important foundations for language, imitation and play skills.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦Play that works on joint attention skills include:
- Bubbles🫧
- balloons 🎈
- rolling a ball back and forth πŸ€
- taking turns rolling cars down a rampπŸš™
- music and dancing 🎼
- playing peek-a-boo πŸ™ˆ

Our Manly team are great supports to develop your child's joint attention and language skills in a fun and play based way!

To book a session filled with bubbles, balloons and fun please email Manly@earlystartaustralia.com.au or call Ph: (02) 9064 5010, or create a service enquiry https://www.earlystartaustralia.com.au/clinic/manly/ and we will get back to you!

🌟 At our clinic, we are proud to offer the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) as a naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ESDM is an evidence-based therapy that is embedded in play and daily routines, designed to increase a child's development in all domains while decreasing the symptoms of autism. Developed by two psychologists, Sally Rogers and Geraldine Dawson, ESDM is uses play to build positive and fun relationships between parents, therapists, and children.

We believe that ESDM is an effective intervention for young children with ASD, and we are committed to providing high-quality therapy that is tailored to each child's unique needs. Our group program, the Little Oaks program, mixes ESDM and G-ESDM (Applied the ESDM principles in a small group model) which allows our kiddies to be supported in many of the activities they would be participating in within their kinder/childcare environment (Group Circle times, group snack, group activities such as craft and dance).

Our team of experienced therapists is dedicated to creating a warm and friendly environment that fosters growth and development. We are proud to say that we do ESDM well, and we are honored to be a part of each child's journey towards reaching their full potential. If you have any questions about ESDM or our clinic, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help! 🧑

26/05/2023

Today, we wanted to talk about the important role that Early Childhood Educators play in early intervention and supports for young children with autism and other developmental delays.

As many of us know, early intervention is crucial for children with a delay, and having a team of professionals working together is key to ensuring the best outcomes for the child. Here are some reasons why having an Early Childhood Educator on the team is so beneficial:

πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ« Early childhood educators are trained to work with young children and have a deep understanding of child development. They can provide valuable insights into the child's behavior and development, which can help inform the rest of the team's interventions.

πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ«They are skilled in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that are tailored to the child's specific needs. This can be especially helpful for children with autism, who often have unique learning styles and needs.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« Early childhood educators are experts in creating a positive and supportive learning environment. They can help create a safe and nurturing space for the child to learn and grow, which is essential for their development.

πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ«They work well with other forms of allied health such as psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and behavior supports. By collaborating with these professionals, they can ensure that the child is receiving a comprehensive and holistic approach to their care.

In short, having an Early Childhood Educator on the team is crucial for ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care and support. They bring a unique set of skills and expertise to the table, and their input is invaluable in creating a comprehensive and effective intervention plan. So let's give a big shoutout to all the amazing early childhood educators out there who are making a difference in the lives of children with autism! We have our wonderful teachers, Heidi Webb and Gloria Reyes to celebrate with our Manly Center and we are so proud to have them on board!

We are able to support with early intervention sessions (including ESDM) , psychological assessment, parent training / capacity building. If you would like an appointment with our amazing team,
