⏰ Short-term fasting can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation, which may support hormonal balance in some people ⚖️ For those with insulin resistance (like in PCOS), that can sometimes be helpful 🩺 However, fertility is energy-sensitive 🪫 When the body senses low fuel availability, it may dial down reproductive hormones 📉 Swipe to learn more about the impact of fasting on fertility 👉

Men’s fertility changes with age too. S***m count, movement and shape all gradually decline from about age 30–35. While not sudden, it can impact chances of success.

Diet, smoking, alcohol, stress and pollution all affect s***m health. Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference when trying to conceive and can help improve fertility when age becomes a risk factor.

New fertility guidelines now recommend men and women be tested together early on. Understanding fertility starts with both partners.

🩺 When undergoing assisted reproduction, you may be presented with some different options for your embryo transfer 🥚 There’s the option to freeze your embryos, which is often chosen by individuals or couples who don’t want to get pregnant straight away but want to increase their future chance of success 📈 Or, you may opt for fresh embryo transfer, which involves the retrieval and fertilisation of an egg which is then quickly transferred into the uterus for implantation 🧬 So, which is the best option? 👉

🌏 Globally, about 40% of women will experience some kind of pelvic organ prolapse 🩺 The most common risk factor for uterine prolapse is having been pregnant or given birth 👶 Let’s talk about what pelvic organ prolapse is and how it can be treated 👉

Prolapse of the pelvic organs occurs due to a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments. Specifically, uterine prolapse is characterised by the uterus slipping down into or protruding out of the va**na.

Uterine prolapse can occur at any age, but it mostly affects postmenopausal women who have had one or more va**nal deliveries. Uterine prolapse is often accompanied by a tugging or pulling sensation in the pelvis and urinary incontinence.

Surgery is used to treat prolapse of the pelvic organs, and this can be done via minimally-invasive techniques such as laparoscopy. Prolapse can be prevented by regularly engaging in pelvic floor exercises, avoiding heavy lifting, and controlling any severe coughing. If you have any concerns about uterine prolapse or your gynaecological health, then I’m always happy to have a chat.

⭕️ China recently introduced a new tax on condoms, but experts say it’s unlikely to boost fertility or counter the country’s declining birth rate 👶 The move highlights how policymakers often focus on restricting contraception rather than addressing the real drivers of low fertility: economic pressures, high childcare costs, housing unaffordability, gender inequality, and work–life imbalance 🏠 Lasting support for families comes from policies that improve financial security, social support, healthcare access, and gender equity 👉

💵 China recently introduced a new tax on condoms, but experts say it’s unlikely to boost fertility or counter the country’s declining birth rate 👶 The move highlights how policymakers often focus on restricting contraception rather than addressing the real drivers of low fertility: economic pressures, high childcare costs, housing unaffordability, gender inequality, and work–life imbalance 🏠 Lasting support for families comes from policies that improve financial security, social support, healthcare access, and gender equity 👉

The New Condom Tax
China has introduced a tax on condoms.
The aim: theoretically encourage more births.
But condoms are only one small factor in reproductive choice.

Why It Won’t Move Birth Rates
Fertility decisions are complex.
Financial stress, housing costs, childcare expenses and work culture matter more.
Making condoms more expensive isn’t going to make people suddenly want children or be able to afford them.
The tax may also lead to reduced safe s*x practices and higher rates of s*xually transmitted diseases, which could in turn harm fertility.

What Actually Supports Fertility
Policies that ease economic and family pressures:
– Affordable housing
– Paid parental leave
– Accessible childcare
– Gender equity in work and care responsibilities
