Our neck supports the weight of our head and protects the nerves that carry sensory and motor information from the brain down to the rest of the body. In addition, the neck is highly flexible and allows the head to turn and flex in all directions.
When it comes to pain, Neck tension is a common condition that can be caused by many different things.
In this modern time, we are very often looking down : phone, computer, cooking, eating, ironing, gardening,reading ... We basically rarely look up. People working long hours at their desk might experience a tight neck.
Constantly looking down can create tension on your neck vertebrae and slightly change the natural curve of your neck. The neck muscles, upper back and shoulders hold an excessive load due to a misalignment. It creates tightness in neck, head, upper back, TMJ ( jaw pain), headaches, migraines. Very often it creates other detrimental issues such as fatigue, stress, melancholy.
