𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 – 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟏

We had a great start to the term across our Minecraft social groups!

Each group explored different activities and themes, with participants showing creativity, teamwork, and lots of enthusiasm.
Here’s a look at what some of our groups got up to:

𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 & 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠
Some groups began with a short book read or story prompt to spark creativity and help participants think about what they wanted to build this term.

𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬
A few groups focused on setting up early resources, including community farms, crop patches, and shared storage areas so everyone could start building confidently.

𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠
Across the groups, participants began planning and starting their bases. Each group took a different approach, including:
-Colour‑themed builds where each player used a chosen colour in their design
-Starter shelters and home bases for survival-focused groups
-Underground hideouts and secret base designs

𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 (𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭)
One group kicked off their Rainbow City challenge, where participants used colour-themed plots to begin shaping their own city space. They even revisited last year’s big pink town hall and discussed upgrades.

Overall, it was a fantastic week full of engagement, creativity, and collaboration. We’re excited to see how each group continues developing their worlds and ideas as the term goes on!

Every Minecraft world comes with challenges - and every challenge becomes an opportunity for 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡.

In our Minecraft social group, participants practise:

- flexible thinking
- exploring solutions
- trying new strategies
- working together to overcome obstacles

Our Dungeons & Dragons social groups offer so much more than an adventure on the page. D&D naturally mirrors real‑world social dynamics, making it a powerful space for participants to explore social growth skills like empathy, teamwork, and self‑control.

But what truly makes this experience meaningful isn’t just the game - it’s the 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 wrapped around it.

In our sessions, neurodivergent adventurers can:

✨ express their authentic selves without judgement
✨ build trust with others in a structured but flexible setting

Our Dungeons & Dragons social groups begin with character creation, giving participants a safe and supportive space to settle in and start their adventure.

In Week 1, everyone can explore who they want to be - from heroes and healers to storytellers and adventurers. Participants choose their character’s personality, strengths, abilities, hopes, and motivations, helping them feel more connected and confident before the journey begins.

As they shape their character, participants also build social confidence through gentle choice‑making and group interaction. They’re invited to express themselves, share ideas, collaborate with others, and explore communication at a pace that feels right for them. Our facilitators guide each participant with care, ensuring they feel supported and empowered every step of the way.

Every adventurer brings their own unique spark, imagination, and strengths to the table - and we celebrate each participant for who they are and how they choose to engage. We’re excited to begin another term filled with creativity, connection, and shared storytelling!

One of the biggest strengths of our online social groups is 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. By meeting online, participants can join from the comfort of their 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, removing many of the barriers that can make in‑person groups overwhelming.

Without the added stress of travel, unfamiliar environments, or sensory overload, participants can focus their energy on what truly matters -𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬. Being in a familiar space supports regulation and confidence, making it easier to follow the story, take turns, and build meaningful social connections at their own pace.

Our facilitators intentionally create a 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 environment where participants feel safe to participate, observe, or step forward when they’re ready. Seeing families notice this growth- and choose to return - means so much to us.
