Congratulations to Wanda's Mia Greacen πŸ†

Mia stormed home to win the 2025 Bay Sheffield sprint race in Adelaide. This is one of Australia's premier professional sprint races and is a huge breakthrough victory for Mia.

Congrats also to Davina Strauss who coached Mia to this victory and who is integral to our Wanda beach coaching team.

Well done ladies! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Shoulder to Shoulder β€οΈπŸ’›

This morning, Wanda members, alongside lifesavers in red and yellow across the country, stood Shoulder to Shoulder in quiet reflection following the tragic events at Bondi.

That moment spoke volumes β€” of solidarity, strength and unity β€” and of respect for those who lost their lives, those directly affected, and the lifesavers, lifeguards, first responders and everyday Australians who stepped forward to help in unthinkable circumstances.

Moments like this remind us why being part of surf lifesaving means so much β€” a movement grounded in service, humility and community. Proud to stand with our members, and proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Australians across the country today as part of the Surf Life Saving movement.

We remember, we reflect, and we stand united β€” as Wanda, as lifesavers and as Australians.

Shoulder to Shoulder at Wanda.

Tomorrow, Wanda Surf Life Saving Club will take part in Shoulder to Shoulder at Wanda Beach, joining Bondi SBLSC, North Bondi SLSC and lifesavers across Australia in a moment of silent reflection.

At 8am tomorrow all patrolling members are invited to gather at the water’s edge, in your red and yellow patrol uniform, and stand shoulder to shoulder facing the sea. Together we will observe three minutes of silence.

Please arrive at 7.45am and gather near the red and yellow flags at Wanda beach.

This is a time to acknowledge the tragic events at Bondi, to pay our respects to those who lost their lives and everyone who has been impacted, and to recognise the extraordinary courage and professionalism of the lifesavers and first responders who acted in the most challenging of circumstances.

Most importantly, this moment is about standing together as one lifesaving movement β€” in support of our fellow lifesavers, particularly those directly involved, and in recognition that experiences like these leave a lasting impact.

There will be no speeches β€” just silence, reflection and solidarity.

I encourage all club members to take part in this simple, but powerful, gesture as we stand shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues across the country.

Thank you for your continued care for one another and the entire community.

Fiona Sutton
President - Wanda SLSC

Last weekend was action-packed, with competitors in Wollongong City for another round of the Sydney Water Series.

Further afield at Alexandra Headlands, our surf team took on the first 10,000-point round of the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series.

Some fantastic results, including several podium and top-6 placings.

Well done to all!

Wanda lifesavers headed south last weekend to support our friends at Garie, helping keep their beach safe and patrol-ready.

It’s what the surf lifesaving movement is all about β€” clubs supporting each other, sharing our people and skills, and making sure every community has a safe place to swim. It’s community spirit at its best.

Huge thanks to our volunteers who gave up their time to lend a hand. Service beyond our own beach is something our club has always taken great pride in, and this was another example of that commitment in action.
