Joy isn’t just a bonus. It’s essential. We believe that fun, laughter, and play belong in everyone’s day. Whether it’s dancing in the kitchen, telling a joke that makes no sense, or colouring outside the lines, joy is powerful. Let’s celebrate the moments that make us smile, because they matter too.

What are your little habits, stims, or quirks? The ones that make you feel calm, focused, or just you? Flapping hands, tapping toes, lining things up, humming your favourite tune on loop… quirks can be part of what makes each person wonderfully unique. Your rhythms, routines, your ways of being matter to us. They deserve to be supported with kindness and understanding.

This week is National Carers Week and we'd like to thank the 3 million Australians who care for a someone. Whether you're a family member, a friend, or a support worker, your care changes lives. We see your dedication, your patience, and the strength you bring to every day. You may not wear a cape, but you are most definitely a superhero.

Just a reminder: you don’t have to have it all together. Most of us are winging it...and that’s okay. Progress, not perfection. Life can be messy, weird, wonderful and support should meet you where you're at. Deep breath. One thing at a time. You’ve got this. And we’ve got you.

There’s no “right” way to be you...and that’s the best part. Let's celebrate individuality in all its brilliant forms. Loud or quiet, fast or steady, organised or creatively chaotic, every person brings something valuable to the table. Support isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about helping you shine as yourself.

Radical self-love means loving yourself... not in spite of who you are... but because of who you are. Every body, every mind, every story, deserves to feel worthy, seen, and celebrated. Living with disability doesn’t make you less. It doesn’t make you broken. It's part of you, and you are powerful. Choose kindness toward yourself. Choose acceptance. Choose joy in who you are, exactly as you are. That’s radical self-love.

This World Sepsis Day we’re bringing attention to a life-threatening illness that hospitalised 84,000 Australians in 2022-23.

Sepsis is when your body has an extreme response to an infection. People with sepsis say they feel very sick (the worst they have ever felt) and get sick very quickly.

Symptoms can include:
- difficulty breathing
- confusion
- low or no urine
- fever or chills
- rapid heart rate
- a new rash or blue, grey, pale or blotchy skin.

Any kind of infection, including influenza (flu), wound and skin infections, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) can cause sepsis.

Flu activity is high right now and the risk of sepsis is highest during the peak of the flu season.

If you feel unwell or are concerned, visit your doctor or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, even if you have already seen a doctor.

If you are very sick, go to a hospital emergency department or call Triple Zero (000).

Don’t be afraid to ask ‘could it be sepsis?’
