Why do we ask for AHPRA?
Hi ,

A 2024 Update from the admin team.

We have had a couple of questions about why the group has been asking for proof of AHPRA (or equivalent e.g. NZMC or UK GMC) or medical student's details.

Why are we asking for proof that your partner is a doctor or medical student?
ADSN is a steadily growing group that has previously been targeted by scammers. The admin team works hard to ensure that it is a safe and protected space. Asking for proof of AHPRA is common in other private medical-specific Facebook groups, such as business for doctors, medical mums, etc. Our main priority has always been to keep the group a safe space.

What is done with the information?
Nothing. The admin team (consisting of 3 people) sees this, so we know your partner is a doctor or medical student. Facebook deletes information from the membership questions after a period of time.

My partner is concerned about sharing their AHPRA details. What can I tell them?
The AHPRA register is a public register that anyone (patients, colleagues and employers) can access for further information of any registered health professional. You can find the register here
: https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registers-of-Practitioners
What information is shared on the AHPRA register
"The online register of practitioners has accurate, up-to-date information about the registration status of all registered health practitioners in Australia. It is an important way the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme helps keep the public safe." This information is taken directly from the AHPRA website (accessed on 22/11/24 from https://www.ahpra.gov.au/.../Tips-for-using-the-public...)

My partner is still uncomfortable with this information on Facebook, so what is the next step?
You can email hello@adsn.com.au, which is monitored by Jeanette, the group conveyor and we can have a discussion.

Help! My friend's request to ADSN Chat (the private group) was declined, and we are unsure what the next step is.
If you have invited a friend, they likely still need to fill in the membership questions. If they don't fill this in within a certain time period, Facebook will decline their request. We recommend trying to join again later. Often, they will need to search for the group and answer the questions. If anyone has any concerns, please reach out to hello@adsn.com.au

Thank you to everyone who has read this.

Look after yourself as we all enter the busy period of 2024
