Sydney University Boat Club SUBC

Sydney University Boat Club SUBC Founded in 1860, SUBC is among oldest sporting clubs in Australia. SUBC also has a strong as well as a long history.

It is known by many (throughout Australia, and the world) as The Home of Rowing. It has been the beginning of many great rowing careers at university, State, national and international level. Current club members compete at all levels of rowing from Olympic, World Championships, state and club events.

WORLD ROWING BEACH SPRINT FINALS in Antalya, Turkey 2025 🌟

We wish Sophia Wightman all the best in her senior debut tonight! At 10:30pm AEST we’ll see Soph in the Coastal Mixed Quadruple Scull alongside crew members Phoebe Robinson, Oscar Scheel Gamborg, Samuel Forbes and Ryder Taylor (c) as they compete in their opening time trial!

Last weekend on the Yarra, Sydney University Men's and Women's Eights won their respective events at the 2025 Australian Boat Race . The women's race was one of the closest finishes since 2011, with Sydney and Melbourne on equal terms right until the last few hundred metres.

What an incredible week SUBC have had up in Wyaralong Dam, Brisbane! Over 3 days of racing in gruelling heat and gusty winds the squad has achieved the Overall Pointscore 🏆 the Overall Women’s Pointscore 🏆 and the Overall Men’s Pointscore 🏆 Congratulations to all athletes and coaches involved! Polishing The Australuan Boat Race Trophies ready for he 2025 races on the Yarra. Melbourne Sunday morning 19th October.

Men's trophy ÷ Edmund Barton Trophy after Australia's first Prime Minuster who when a student, rowed in the Sydney Uni Four in the first Intervarsity race in 1870. Barton was one of most influential figures in getting Australuan states to join the Federation and in drafting g our Constitution.

Women' trophy - The Bella Guerin Trophy named after the first woman to graduatto from any Australian University. She gained her B.A from Melbourne University in 1883 and an M.A. in 1885. She had a career as a teacher and was a very prominent early Australuan feminist.
