Rise and Thrive OT, in collaboration with other local therapists, has a new project in the works! A project that aims to empower parents, assist those families on long waitlists, upskill students and early carer therapists and act as a companion for your child’s regular therapy session.

But first, we need YOUR feedback! This project is being development with parents feedback and needs at the forefront.

Tangrams are a versatile and useful tool for children’s learning and development.
Tangrams are easy way to incorporate fine-motor skills visual perceptual skills and visual motor integration into a fun and play-based activity.
Visual perceptual skills are essential for tasks such as gross-motor activities, reading, writing, self-care and a whole range of other functional activities throughout a child’s every day life.

Sandwich stacking 🥪
This is a new resource that I’ve been bringing along to sessions! The kids have been loving it. This activity targets:
- Planning, sequencing and memory: testing a child’s ability to follow and sequence a number of steps.
- Fine-motor skills: coordinating the ingredients of the sandwich onto the pole.
- Following instructions: targeting a child’s ability to follow a set of instructions (whether visual or verbal).
- Visual perception: Having the child track the list of ingredients and match it to the correct physical item.

This is a great resource and one that can be made easier or harder, dependant on the child’s goals!

Our Parent Coaching Sessions are a popular option for families who are stuck on therapy waitlists, are awaiting NDIS funding or who have a child without NDIS funding though are still wanting Occupational Therapy assistance. Some of our parents already have their child in OT services, though are wanting an additional service designed for up skilling and empowering parents.

These session are a collaborative session - you come to the other with your concerns and question. These sessions are for you and ran by you!

The OT will assist in guiding you through a problem solving approach, assisting you to develop the skills and knowledge. We want you to feel empowered. 💪🏼

Need help making resources? Visual schedules, checklists, social stories? We can also help.

🌏 Bookings open Australian wide
🗓️ You get to decide the frequency - e.g. fortnightly, monthly, every 6 weeks? You can decide.
💵 Initial session (30 minutes) $50
💵 Future session: 30 minutes - $60, 45 minute - $90, 1 hour - $120.
💰 Private paying or NDIS accepted.

Parents and caregivers are the most important and constant people in a child’s life, so we want to equip and empower caregivers to understand the challenges their child might be experiencing and to learn how to confidently engage with, play with, and teach their child to develop skills. We join you to come and pick our OTs brain! Your child’s NDIS funding can be utilised for these sessions.

Parent and caregiver support can be provided through one-on-one sessions, within your home or online.

One of my favourite occupational therapy resources for the younger ages.

This type of toy is a cause and effect toy - meaning that it assists the child in learning that their actions can cause something to happen. This can aid in the development of vocabulary, joint attention and naturally fosters curiosity!

Hand-eye coordination, fine-motor skills, midline crossing and muscle development are some of the physical, motor skills which this toys targets. Visual recognition skills, exploration, colour identification and counting are a few of the cognitive/visual skills this resource targets! Not to mention, this spinning toy may provide some fantastic sensory, visual input to those who enjoy spinning objects and colours.

Who knew that something so simple could be so beneficial!

Welcome to Rise & Thrive Occupational Therapy! We are a local occupational therapy practice, located in Camden NSW.

Whilst seeing our little friends and working with parents/caregivers via one-on-one therapy sessions is our favourite time of week 🫶🏼, Rise & Thrive is also passionate about working directly with local service providers - early educators, teachers, sporting coaches, personal trainers, you name it!

We believe our community can be doing A LOT MORE in terms of providing inclusive services. Occupational Therapist’s have a unique skill set, where we are highly trained to support physical, cognitive, emotional, social and sensory accessibility and development.

🌱 We’ve worked with teachers to assist them in the development of their sensory and emotional regulation skills.
🌱 We’ve worked with educators to assist them in implementing effective fine-motor activities based on this child(rens) needs.
🌱 We’ve worked with Jiujitsu facilities to further improve the accessibility and inclusivity of their services, as well as taught trainers how to support individuals with additional needs throughout their sessions.
🌱 We’ve conducted workshops with local sporting organisations - discussing the various ways disabilities may present within a sporting team, the barriers these individuals may face and the appropriate strategies to use within training sessions to support executive functioning, social skills and gross motor deficits.
