Chamundai, The Laughter Lawyer - Joyful Wellness Laughter Lawyer I was intrigued - I had never heard of laughter clubs so had to go home and search for laughter clubs on google..

A funny thing happened one day I was driving home from a legal case - I was a stressed out lawyer,, I said a prayer to the universe, to God - Please.. I am sick of being a lawyer, what do you want me to do now ?...

I had an instant unusual thought,, very clear - as if a voice spoke in my ear -- "Start a Laughter Club !".. I found Laughter Yoga, went to Melbourne to meet the founder of Laughter Yoga, Dr Madan Kataria, who was visiting (from India ), and joined 2 group experiences, - I laughed until I cried. I was intrigued by how I had found such deep prolonged laughter when I had thought of myself as a "serious lawyer !" It took me on a journey - and life has never been the same. I did many trainings and retreats to become "certified" as a laughter leader, laughter yoga teacher, with the founder of Laughter Yoga, Dr Madan Kataria. Immediately I noticed I had changed. I was happier, laughed more, had more time and took life much less seriously. I also found I made better decisions and was generally more fun to be around. I was creative, funny and more easy going. These changes had a huge positive impact in my work life as a lawyer, and in my family, and it was a result of using the simple techniques of laughter Yoga. I became inspired to help others achieve these wonderful results and became known as – “The Laughter Lawyer “

I have also deeply explored and transformed through spiritual study and I spend time in India at the ashram and temples of Sri Sakthi Narayani Amma near Vellore, 3 hours drive from Chennai, in Tamil Nadu. I have facilitated many laughter sessions there too. Through my business as the Laughter Lawyer, I have run hundreds of workshops for corporations, schools, hospitals, community groups, insurance companies, law firms and have presented at many conferences including the State Legal Conference, the Community Legal Centres conference ,the LEADR Kongress conference, Family Law conference, National Mediation Conference 2014 and the BASIL (brothers and sisters in law ) conferences for lawyers. I have also been featured in the Law Society Journal, Sydney Morning Herald and other press and been on radio programs. In the past I have run free laughter clubs for the community in North Sydney, Port Macquarie and Mona Vale. I now host 2 weekly laughter and meditation classes Stress Less Laugh more to Laugh Yourself Happy on zoom. Classes are $10 per person per class and are on Mondays at 7pm and Saturdays at 9am AEDT Sydney Australia time zone. I have trained many people to be able to start and run social laughter clubs and to add laughter yoga to their toolbox. I have always had a passion for spirituality and the exploration of the deeper meaning of life and have spent more than 20 years exploring a number of spiritual and healing traditions. For 16 years I studied and trained with Shakti Durga, (former lawyer Kim Fraser) and I become expert at energy and healing through Ignite Your Spirit therapy and the seminars called the Path of Ease and Grace. During this time of study I gained my spiritual name – Chamundai, which is now my legal name.

I am a former lawyer, accredited family dispute resolution practitioner, spiritual teacher, coach and mentor. I have had a varied interesting career in the law, have worked as a counselor, manager and as a healer, teacher, and mentor.

I began my career as a lawyer in 1984 and by 1986. I believe I held a desire to be like those court room attorneys and barristers featured on British and American TV. (Sad but true !) Alas life in a regional law firm was not like that. Being the “Family Lawyer” took me deeply into the lives of families who were in stress and distress. I saw the introduction of the first legislation for domestic violence and spend many years helping women navigate that difficult situation. I was part of the team that formed the Many Rivers Violence Protection Unit in Kempsey on the North Coast of NSW in 1998. These services spread throughout Australia to assist aboriginal families to find help and support with family violence. Work was stressful.
