It’s Autism Awareness Month, but we’re doing it the MATES4U way.

Less “awareness,” more connection.
Because knowing about autism isn’t the same as showing up, making space, and creating places where people genuinely feel like they belong.

That’s what we’re about.

It’s hyping each other up over the smallest wins.
It’s having a place where you don’t have to explain yourself, because people just get it.
Connection. Belonging. Feeling seen without the pressure to be anything other than yourself.
This month (and every month), we’re celebrating our community for exactly what it is… real, supportive, and unapologetically us.

No big speeches. No token gestures.
Just people, showing up for each other.

And honestly? That’s what matters most. Happy April. For us it’s April every single day.

What a great start to our brand new Thursday cooking program.

Yesterday’s MATES4U training was a great reminder of just how privileged we are to work with such a high-calibre group of support workers.

We are incredibly proud of our team and committed to making sure they feel confident, supported and empowered in the important work they do. Supporting young people with varying disabilities is a role that carries responsibility; and ongoing, meaningful training matters.

The training session focused not only on the specific needs of the people we support, but also on building broader capability. We were fortunate to be joined by the team from who shared powerful insights into Creative Thinking  (CQ). CQ supports our workers to think flexibly and creatively, and to pivot creatively when situations change.

Creative Thinking is the natural progression of Emotional Intelligence, and we are proud to stay across developments in both critical and creative thinking. Our training program continues to draw on the expertise of allied health professionals, our own leadership team, and now specialists in EQ and CQ.

Thank you to the incredible team from The Brightspace and huge thank you to our amazing support workers for your professionalism, openness to learning and the genuine care you bring to MATES4U every day.
