Dr Louis Wessels is a cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgeon and is a senior lecturer at the faculty of medicine and health sciences. His practice covers the whole range of practice in cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery with special emphasis on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast (augmentation, reduction and breast lift) as well as facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He is also an accomplished microsurgeon and regularly performs both reconstructive microsurgery for breast reconstruction and head & neck restoration following cancer surgery. In addition, he has expertise in body contouring surgery and non-surgical cosmetic therapies. Dr Wessels received his MBChB in South Africa, completing his internship & general surgery residency, training in one of the most challenging clinical environments, before completing his Fellowship and his Master of Medicine in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He subsequently graduated from Macquarie University in the inaugural award of the Masters of Advanced Surgery (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), for which he was awarded a Scholarship from Johnson & Johnson. Dr Wessels successfully completed his second Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery when was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. He is a member of the Surgical Infection Research Group at Macquarie University, and has published world-leading research on breast implant infection and outcomes.

Breast implant revision surgery results!

This transformation included removal and replacement of previous implants with 350cc round high-profile implants placed in a dual plane position for optimal shape and support.

A lateral + inferior internal bra technique was performed to stabilise the pocket and help maintain implant position long-term, while strategic fat grafting enhanced the cleavage line for a softer, more natural contour.

Surgery results of breast augmentation, mastopexy and mini abdominoplasty performed in a single procedure. 310cc ergonomic mini Motiva implants were selected to restore volume of the breast.
A mini abdominoplasty was chosen to address excess skin and contour irregularity confined to the lower abdomen. This procedure targets the area below the umbilicus, does not involve muscle repair or umbilical transposition, and requires a shorter incision compared with a standard abdominoplasty. Recovery is typically quicker and best suited to patients with mild lower abdominal laxity. Shorter recovery period.

A standard abdominoplasty is indicated when there is more extensive skin excess and muscle separation, involving full abdominal wall tightening and repositioning of the umbilicus.

Breast augmentation + mastopexy + fat grafting performed in a single surgery to restore shape, volume and balance in one comprehensive plan.

A lift was used to reposition the breast tissue and ni***es, 405cc round moderate-plus implants were placed to enhance upper pole fullness, and fat grafting was added for soft contouring and a more natural transition through the cleavage and outer breast.
