October 2025 Mental Health Australia’s theme for World Mental Health Day is
'Connect with your community!'💚💜
Connecting with our communities – the people & places where we feel safe, seen & heard – can help us feel cared for & supported, which is good for our mental health🫂

World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), a global organisation with members in more than 150 countries.

Having a happy community helps improve & makes a big impact on our own happiness, to our family & to the whole community. Our well-being improves when we talk & engage with our neighbours. There are many activities in the community that everyone can join!
It can help us to build strong relationships & make connections. Happy living also should have a good & peaceful environment! How can we be happy if there’s a lot of trouble happening outside? Simple, the peace is from us, from our own hearts and minds💜

Be kind to your mind. Your story isn’t over yet!

💙🖤Prostate Cancer Awareness Month🖤💙
September 1 - September 30

Every September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month brings together global communities—healthcare providers, survivors, researchers, and families - to shine a spotlight on a cancer that affects millions of men. It is a time of education, conversation, screening, and compassion. During this month, we unite to raise awareness, encourage early detection, support those facing prostate cancer, and fund research for better outcomes.

It is the second most common cancer in men globally, with several million new cases each year. One in every eight men will receive a prostate cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. When caught early, prostate cancer has a high 5 year survival rate—often above 95%. With advances like active surveillance, focal therapy, nerve-sparing surgery, and more precise radiation, men have options that align with both health and long-term quality of life.

Prostate cancer affects not just patients, but families, partners, and support networks. Awareness Month advocates for carer support, open communication, and shared resilience.

Support Women’s Mental Health this September with LIPTEMBER💄🫶🏼

Since 2010, the “Liptember” flagship fundraising campaign has encouraged people to wear lipstick throughout the month of September as a lighthearted and fun way to raise awareness and vital funds for women’s mental health

A range of factors can lead to a woman experiencing poor mental health - psychological, biological and social - all of which can change over a woman’s life. Biological factors like menstruation, menopause, pregnancy and birth; as well as certain experiences such as miscarriage, ovarian or cervical cancer, can each present unique and diverse mental health conditions specifically for women.

🩷1 in 2 women were suffering from a mental health issue in 2024. Women are in crisis, yet only 48% of them are seeking help.
🩷46% women were facing depression in 2024 - the leading mental health issue amongst Australian women
🩷1 in 4 mental health issues are triggered by unstable family situations and relationship conflicts in 2024, rising from 13% since 2022.

Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day💛🎗️

Thursday 11 September is R U OK? Day & whether it’s a friend, family member, partner, or colleague, the people around us go through life’s ups & downs every day.

People who are regularly asked, 'are you OK?' feel better in their overall wellbeing, &a third of Australians say they've been asking others more often over the past year! That means many of us are showing up for others in meaningful ways, & when it comes to conversations about how we’re really going - some people are less confident than others.

It’s natural to feel a little hesitant, but the good news is nine in ten Australians report feeling grateful, supported & cared for when someone genuinely asks them if they're OK - & that’s a good reason to give it a go!💛You might even be having these conversations already without realising.

Conversation could change a Life!🫶🏼
