MacKillop Seasons

MacKillop Seasons MacKillop Seasons help build the wellbeing and resilience of communities following adversity.

MacKillop Seasons' programs aim to strengthen the social and emotional well being of people who are experiencing major life changes and losses such as death, separation and divorce by supporting them to explore the impact of change and loss on everyday life and to learn new ways to respond. Written by Professor Anne Graham and built upon J William Worden’s theory of grief, our flagship program Seasons for Growth is an innovative grief and loss education program that uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the experience of grief. Our education programs are evidence based, and many external evaluations over the years have continued to affirm Seasons for Growth and its contribution to the lives of people touched by loss and grief. Throughout its 20 year lifespan the Seasons for Growth Children and Young People’s Program has gone through three iterations to incorporate new evidence and ensure that it continues to provide a relevant and highly valued experience for participants. Over its lifetime, over 200,000 children and young people have participated in the Seasons for Growth Program, along with thousands of adults.

 Empowering Wellbeing in Your School

Educators play a vital role in helping children and young people navigate change and uncertainty. Our Seasons for Growth program equips teachers, school staff, and professionals with the skills and mental health literacy to recognise and respond to students’ wellbeing needs after significant loss or change.

We understand the start of the year is a busy time for schools. If you’re a principal looking to upskill your team, we’re offering two-day face-to-face training sessions early next year.

🎒Year 6/7 Transition – Navigating the Tricky Territory Between Primary and Secondary School

As we start the school year, many students may be contemplating the momentous transition from primary to secondary school. This transition brings significant changes, for example, new friendships, different peer groups, new teachers, increased schoolwork, and unfamiliar environments and routines. While your child will adapt, it can take time.

24/01/2026

For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, 26 January is a time of grief, loss and ongoing intergenerational trauma.

As an organisation dedicated to sharing knowledge that supports people through change, loss, grief and healing, we acknowledge the significance of this date and its impact on First Nations communities.

We recognise the truth of this land’s history and the enduring impacts of colonisation, and stand in solidarity, honouring the stories, cultures and resilience of First Nations peoples.

May 26 January be a day for reflection, truth telling and compassionate connection.

At MacKillop Seasons, we remain committed to cultural humility, deep listening, and practices that support healing and connection for First Nations children, families and communities.

Our Story

Good Grief's programs aim to strengthen the social and emotional well being of people who are experiencing major life changes and losses such as death, separation and divorce by supporting them to explore the impact of change and loss on everyday life and to learn new ways to respond. Written by Professor Anne Graham and built upon J William Worden’s theory of grief, our flagship program, Seasons for Growth, is an innovative grief, change and loss education program that uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the experience of grief. Our education programs are evidence based, and many external evaluations over the years have continued to affirm Seasons for Growth and its contribution to the lives of people touched by loss and grief. Throughout its 21 year lifespan Seasons for Growth Children and Young People’s Program has gone through three iterations to incorporate new evidence and ensure that it continues to provide a relevant and highly valued experience for participants. Over its lifetime, over 200,000 children and young people have participated in Seasons for Growth, along with thousands of adults.

The unique thing about our programs is that they enable you to become a Companion and make a difference within your own community. That way, children do not need to be removed from their familiar environment or work with unfamiliar faces in order to learn skills to help them become more emotionally adaptable, resilient and learn how to respond positively to change, in other words, life-skills. You are also empowered to respond to a need when it arises and within your own time-frame.
