Ever wondered what it’s like to work in the aviation industry? ✈️

Our Employment Pathways participants got the ultimate insider experience at Qantas Head Office, going airside, exploring an A380, and even sitting in first class.

They saw the many roles that keep Qantas flying and took part in a real assessment exercise, applying teamwork and problem-solving skills in a true industry setting.

The excursion inspired our participants to see what’s possible in the disability space, opening pathways to traineeships, apprenticeships, and graduate programs across aviation while sparking interest in fields like aerospace, tourism, business, and transport.

A truly inspiring day of learning, connection, and career exploration. 🌟

Here’s a peek at what’s been happening inside and outside the hubs so far this term 👀

The first two weeks of Term 4 have reminded us why we love what we do — seeing participants dive into new experiences, challenge themselves, and build real-world confidence. ✨

From kitchens to studios, workplace tours to community excursions, every program has kicked off with enthusiasm and purpose. The energy across our hubs has been incredible, and it’s only the beginning! 💛

From Bondi’s cliffs to seaside sculptures, our Social Meetup at Sculpture by the Sea was a day full of colour, connection, and creativity! 🌞🎨

Participants learned to navigate public spaces, communicate as a team, and find inspiration in every piece of art. 💛

Let’s take a look at what they experienced along the coast! 🌊📸

We’re finalists in One Community's Australian Disability Service Awards 2025 for Best Employment Pathway Program! 🎉

This award recognises programs that harness people’s unique skills, build new ones, and create career pathways that lead to meaningful, award-wage employment. It also celebrates partnerships with employers that deliver genuine open employment outcomes.

Co-Hive has done exactly that! 💛

This recognition means a lot to us, reflecting the effort and dedication our team and participants have put in over the past year. We’re proud to see a growing number of Co-Hivers who have gained and maintained open employment since last year.

With more participants joining every term, we’re excited to continue building pathways toward an inclusive workforce.

If you’re an employer, partner with us to create more opportunities that recognise talent beyond differences.

The October semester break has been action packed and amongst the preparation for many new participants in Term 4, our staff gathered for an engaging and meaningful Staff Enrichment Day.

This day was focused on building intercultural awareness, improving the way we build community and belonging at Co-Hive, and reviewing our IMPACT commitments.

Session 1 was delivered by the knowledgeable Kate from Together For Humanity who equipped us with many practical strategies to understand perspectives using Critical Thinking Scaffolds, and reviewed current research to help foster inclusion and respect in our community.

Session 2 was delivered by our new Programs and Pathways Manager, Josh Michel, and focused on applying these learnings to the Co-Hive IMPACT Commitment.

This consists of being:
• Inclusive
• Motivated
• Prepared
• Accountable
• Collaborative
• Transformative

This Staff Enrichment Day reminded us why inclusion matters and how critical it is to keep building a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported to grow.
