Say iliotibial band 3 times fast…

Iliotibial band (ITB) pain is the second most common running-related injury that affects the outside of the knee!

People experiencing ITB pain may notice it with increased loading such as during running downhill, descending down stairs, and when talking large steps during running or walking.

Physiotherapists can assess and treat ITB pain to get you back up and running in no time 🏃

❤️‍🩹Aside from orthopaedic surgery, there are many other operations that also benefit from post-operative rehabilitation including cardiac or abdominal surgeries. ‼️Myths about Physiotherapy‼️

1️⃣ Physio is only for muscular injuries – Physios also treat joints, ligaments, bones, cardiovascular health and more! Their training is detailed in all things human body!

2️⃣ Physio is only for people in pain – Some injuries and conditions don’t always have constant pain and it can come and go! It is also important to maintain physical health and wellbeing despite the presence of injury and physiotherapists can assist with this (pain or no pain!)

3️⃣ Physios are the same as chiros or remedial massage therapists – although there are many overlaps, physiotherapists practice under evidence-based practice and patient-centred approaches to rehab including exercise and manual therapy for the treatment of impairments!

There are many different types of headaches and many different triggers. Physiotherapy is known to be a safe and effective treatment for patients with cervicogenic headache (headache arising from disorders of the neck) and is often also effective for patients diagnosed with tension-type headache

Here at Glebe Physio, headaches are a specialty area that we can treat effectively. If you have any further questions about how we can help with your headache, click the link in our bio to make an appointment and start improving your headaches today!!

💪 What are DOMS?

DOMS or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is a term to describe achy and painful muscles usually following an intense workout. This tends to happen when the muscles aren't accustomed to a certain level of activity and peaks around 48hours, lasting up to one week.

There are a few things that can help ease the pain including rest, anti-inflammatories, massage or rolling out, and compression.

Differentiating DOMS and other injury may be difficult at first, but it is important to take it easy when experiencing any soreness to not worsen the symptoms.

If you find the pain isn't going away and continues to come back routinely, it may be a good idea to speak with a practitioner to assess.
