Take off your serious face from time to time and be silly, be expressive, be fun, but please don’t fake it! .
Kids learn a lot from an expressive adult around: let me state some benefits:
🤹🏻‍♀️they learn to react to what happens around them and start using their first sounds “oh oh” when something drops, “wow” when something special or new appears..
🎭 they learn about feelings: happy 😃 sad 😔 excited 🤩 silly 🤪 and they can start to express their own feelings by exaggerating the face even before they are able to use their own words, that limits their frustration and reassure them that it’s totally fine to express ourselves.
🧸 pretend play becomes much more fun and exciting when we act and over-react « ohhh the hungry crocodile 🐊 is coming to bite me 😲, I need to run away!!” .

Research has proven that your child’s interest comes first when it comes to play and learning opportunities, this is why allowing play time to occur exactly at the time your child is interested and engaged, guarantees the best outcome; higher engagement in independent or social play , prolonged attention, increased communication and learning opportunities to name few.

I said “exactly at the time” and I meant it - stop and respond right away if you care to catch the opportunity 💡

The moment can be literally anytime; at meal time, in the store, outdoor, in the bathroom, while reading a book…

The duration can be as short as 2 minutes, 5 or 10 - it’s absolutely worth it to stop and play ⚽️
