Operating with sunglasses????

They’re 3D glasses for a robotic exoscope using a 4K HD TV, rather than a conventional microscope. Better posture and ergonomics for the surgeon.

This week (March 13-19, 2023) has been “Brain Awareness week”. What better way to promote brain awareness than to participate in a nursing education event held by Codman Integra. Thanks to the organisers for the opportunity for Dr David Wilson and myself from and to share on Hydrocephalus and Brain Tumours. Thoroughly enjoyed the stimulating panel discussions as well!

Our very best wishes for 2023. May the New Year bring you much joy, peace, happiness and health.

Always learning, always improving....

Large basilar artery aneurysms (as depicted here) are difficult to treat. An almost identical aneursym was treated by me last year which resulted in a stroke.

This time, the outcome was much better! The patient was discharged home the day after treatment.

Arachnoid cysts are generally asymptomatic and static. Rarely do they enlarge and cause pressure on the brain, resulting in headaches and numbness. MRI (pic 1 & 2) show the large cyst pre-op. Intraoperative photo (pic 3) demonstrates an arachnoid cyst under pressure. CT scan (pic 4 & 5) show cyst collapsed after fenestration post-op.
