Today, we came together in gentleness and love to honour the young lives who have shaped our hearts forever. Remembering Now is a moment to pause, to breathe, and to hold space for the beautiful souls who have died and for everyone who carries their memory forward.

In quiet moments, in shared stories, in tears and soft smiles, we remember: their light, their courage, the love that continues.

To the families who joined us, thank you. Your presence, strength, and memories are cherished. We stand with you today and always, holding each name close and honouring each legacy with the deepest respect.

💙 A well-being weekend for AYAH dads 💙

Our first Fathers’ Retreat in September brought together an incredible group of dads for a weekend of connection, laughter, and support.

Sausage Sizzle Success! 🌭🔥

What a day! Nearly 600 sausages were served at our Bunnings Balgowlah sausage sizzle, with all proceeds going to support AYAH.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, staff, Bunnings Warehouse Australia, and of course all the hungry customers who stopped by for a sausage (or two!). We couldn’t have done it without your energy, kindness, and community spirit.

We would like to give a special shoutout to MD Fresh for donating many, many kilos of onions.

This month, AYAH staff took part in a restorative sound healing session led by Ali Skiba (Instagram: ). The session was generously donated by Ali as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting staff wellbeing.

Drawing on her own experiences with anxiety and depression, Ali shared the sound-based practices that have supported her personal recovery and balance.

“When I learned about AYAH, I couldn’t not reach out. It felt like a full-body ‘yes’ to offer something nurturing for the community,” she said.

We’re grateful to Ali for creating a calm and reflective space for our team, and for reminding us of the importance of stillness and self-care.

Sausage Sizzle for a Cause! 🌭💛

This Sunday 19 October, 9am–4pm, we’ll be firing up the BBQ at Bunnings Balgowlah to raise funds for the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) in Manly.

🩷CELEBRATING ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS DAY 🩷

Today we’re celebrating the incredible allied health professionals who make a difference every day.

At AYAH, a wide range of allied health disciplines support patients aged 16–30 living with a life-limiting illness, as well as their carers and families.

These disciplines include art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, dietitian consultations, social work, clinical psychology, grief and bereavement counselling, and pharmacy.

Each discipline provides compassionate care tailored to every individual’s needs, helping young people live with comfort, dignity, and connection.

Thank you to all allied health professionals for your skill, compassion, and dedication to care.

Our young people and families were thrilled to meet the animals and spend time with a dedicated zoo educator. Visits like this brighten days, spark curiosity through learning, and create lasting memories.

Thank You, Nat – From All of Us at AYAH 💛

As part of our Self Care September initiative, the AYAH team had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a wellbeing session led by Nat from The Zen In Me and what a grounding, restorative experience it was.

In the midst of the emotionally rich and important work we do, Nat created a calm, nurturing space where our staff could pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. Through gentle yoga and mindfulness, she reminded us that true care starts from within.

AYAH Grief Counsellor Hayley reflected:

“It felt so good to stop, centre and ground myself. I felt so energised and focused afterwards - way more effective than a second coffee!”

What made this session even more special was that Nat generously offered it as a gift to our team , a beautiful act of community kindness. Her time, energy, and care gave us not just a moment of rest, but a reminder of the importance of self-nurture in the work we do.

Thank you, Nat, for helping us re-centre, recharge, and return to our roles with renewed clarity and calm. Your generosity and presence were a true gift, and we’re so grateful.

✨ Manly Vale Calabria Club Fundraiser ✨

A heartfelt thank you to the Manly Vale Calabria Club for hosting such a wonderful fundraising event in support of AYAH!

From delicious food, amazing entertainment, and silent and live auctions full of surprises, it was a night complete with energy, generosity, and community spirit.

We are so grateful to the guests whose kindness and contributions made it possible to raise $20,000! This support directly impacts the patients and their families, allowing us to continue to provide compassionate care and special experiences for those who need it most.

📸 A LITTLE PIECE OF ME 🎨

We’re excited to be part of the 2025 pilot of 'A Little Piece of Me', a collaborative arts project that celebrates the unique personalities and identities of young people in palliative care.

Families create a “pixel portrait” using treasured photos, forming a powerful image that reflects not just a person, but the many people and experiences that shape who they are.

This meaningful project is now being offered to AYAH families, and we’re so honoured to share in this opportunity.

✨ AYAH VIRTUAL TOUR ✨

Ever wondered what AYAH looks like inside? Explore the building, meet our team, and see how we support young people and their families with the AYAH virtual tour.

The AYAH virtual tour was created with Professor Phil Poronnik, who loaned a 360 camera and 3dVista software in 2023. What started as a side project has become an interactive experience showcasing AYAH’s facilities, staff, bushy surroundings, and Sydney Harbour views.

Using a real estate-style format, visitors can explore patient rooms, dining, lounge, activity and sensory spaces, family accommodation, and gardens—all in 3D. We’re excited to offer this unique way for patients, families, referrers, and healthcare professionals to explore our beautiful AYAH facility.
