๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฟ PERIMENOPAUSE CARE ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฟ
One in seven Australians - 3 million women aged between 40 and 59 are potentially going through menopause right now. Menopause is the hormonally erratic end of a woman's menstrual years.
PERIMENOPAUSE, is the lead up to her final period. Caused by dramatic drops in the hormones oestrogen and progesterone and the symptoms can affect a woman's quality of life, career, relationships and mental health.
Today's women want to control the menopause narrative. They want knowledge, solutions and to be heard.
Gen X women are the most educated and empowered generation to come to menopause ever. The Australasian Menopause Society (AMS), defines perimenopause as the time menopause symptoms start until 12 months after the last menstrual period, (a woman is officially in menopause once 12 months have passed since her last period).
Perimenopause can last, an average of four to eight years. The list of Perimenopause symptoms can include - irregular menstrual cycles, heavy bleeding, headaches, breast swelling & tenderness, mood swings, anxiety and depression, memory difficulties, crawling sensation under the skin, muscular and joint pain, poor sleep, reduced libido and weight gain and all of these symptoms will differ from woman to woman however, every woman will go through Perimenopause.
One solution women take to counter the dreaded symptoms of Perimenopause is taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
However, this does not work for all women and, it is not suitable for women who have had a hormone sensitive cancer including breast cancer.
This is where a change of lifestyle comes into place ๐ฟ ๐ฟ
