Proactive Healthcare Hub is seeking dedicated and experienced Support Workers to join our team in Campbelltown, NSW.
We are looking for a highly skilled and resilient Support Worker to provide comprehensive, person-centred support to a male in late 20's with a moderate intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 2 (requiring substantial support), and Conduct Disorder. This individual's support requires a proactive and consistent approach to behaviour management and social skill development.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Demonstrated extensive experience supporting individuals with complex behavioural support needs, including those with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Conduct Disorder.
* Proven ability to implement proactive and evidence-informed strategies, including environmental changes and skill development, to improve quality of life and self-determination.
* Experience in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours, including verbal aggression, threats, and physical aggression (such as grabbing, pinching, wrestling, property damage).
* A strong understanding of setting and maintaining consistent professional boundaries, even when faced with challenging or manipulative behaviours (e.g., harassment, allegations, demanding behaviours).
* Ability to engage in positive communication strategies, focusing on what the client can do, offering choices, and providing positive reinforcement.
* Experience in supporting individuals with difficulties in social communication, including inappropriate language and personal space recognition.
* Competence in supervising access to sharps and ensuring a safe environment.
* Understanding of potential triggers (e.g., transitions, not getting immediate wants met, being told "no," ignored calls) and implementing preventative strategies.
