Flu is here!

Influenza, or ‘flu’, is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.

There are some simple steps to protect yourself and others this winter:
• Get the flu vaccine. It is safe and effective at preventing infection and serious illness
• Stay at home if you are unwell
• Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow
• Maintain good hand-hygiene. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water and use alcohol-based sanitisers

COVID-19 Booster Vaccinations and Flu Vaccinations are readily available at your local medical centers and chemists now. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated to protect yourselves, family, friends and community.

During winter our risk of catching viral illnesses is higher. Both flu and COVID-19 can cause serious illness and death, especially for those with underlying health conditions.

It is safe and convenient to get both flu and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time. Stay well this winter – speak to your local GP or pharmacy if you would like to receive both vaccines together.

By protecting yourself, you’ll help keep your family, friends and community safe too.

World Immunisation Week 2022 will be from 24th April - 30th April.

Royalty Scope Nursing Services staff are 100% COVID-19 vaccinated including the Booster dose to protect our clients, community, family and friends.

We strongly encourage everyone to look into getting vaccinated. Especially with flu season on its way, Influenza vaccines are available at your local medical centres and chemists.

We encourage everyone to receive the COVID-19 Booster doses as soon as you can to protect yourselves, family, friends and community.

The 'Winter Dose' has now been released for Australian's who may be considered most at risk of severe illness, those may include adults aged 65 years and older, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50, residents of aged care and disability care facilities, and people aged 16 years and older who are severely immunocompromised.

Flooding update

⚠️NSW SES is advising residents and businesses within Low lying parts of Woronora and Bonnet Bay to prepare to evacuate the following area in the next few hours:

Properties in the following:
• Thorpe Road
• Prince Edward Park Rd
• Deepwater Estate
• Manilla Place
• Boomi Place
• Yanko Close
• Prices Circuit between Park Road and Menai Road
• Arthur Place
• Lower Washington Drive
• Johnson Close
• Woronora Village Tourist Park,
• Menai Road Woronora
• Liffey Place
• Thames Street

Why we are advising people to prepare to evacuate: Floodwaters may isolate the area. If you remain in the area, you may be trapped without power, water and other essential services and it may be too dangerous to rescue you.

Where to go if evacuation is required: Prepare to stay with family, friends or at accommodation outside of the flood area. If you are unable to do so, an evacuation centre location will be advertised.

Simple things you can do now:
• Take pets, essential items, warm clothes, medicines, insurance documents and valuables with you.
•Relocate other personal possessions to a safer/higher place.
•When directed to evacuate, leave as early as possible to avoid congested roads.
•Prepare to take drinking water and food due to possible long travel times.
•Share this information with family, friends and neighbours and help others where possible.
