We’re proud to recognise two incredible volunteers, Peter and Chris, who generously give their time and heart to our Whiddon Belmont home.

Chris has been volunteering with Whiddon for over 15 years. Twice a week, he brings joy to residents by calling bingo and sharing warm conversations that brighten everyone’s day.

Peter, a member of the Valentine Lions Club, has been volunteering for over 2 years as our bus driver. He also plays Santa at our residents' Christmas party and regularly organises BBQs with fellow Lions Club members, creating wonderful moments of connection and community.

Both Peter and Chris were nominated for the 2025 Volunteer Awards. They each received a certificate and attended a special ceremony in Newcastle - a small gesture to honour their big impact.

Thank you, Peter and Chris, for all that you do. Your kindness and commitment make a real difference in the lives of our residents.

Say hello to Roy! 🐾

We’ve been so lucky to have the company of Roy at Maclean Mareeba over the past few weeks, and it’s safe to say he’s stolen a few hearts along the way! Our residents (and their families!) light up whenever he visits, proving just how powerful the presence of pets can be in aged care.

Companionship, comfort, and connection and that’s what Roy brings with every wag of his tail. 🐶

A big thank you to our wonderful chef Lloyd for sharing his furry friend with us!

🎉 Celebrating 80 Wonderful Years - Happy Birthday Margaret! 🎉

Today we celebrated Margaret’s 80th birthday at Whiddon Easton Park, Taylor House - Christie 1, one of our dedicated memory support homes. Margaret enjoyed a beautifully set table where she sat with her son, surrounded by team members and fellow residents who sang her a heartfelt Happy Birthday. She absolutely loved the attention and is continuing her celebrations across the weekend!

Memory support units play a vital role in aged care, offering tailored environments and compassionate care for residents living with dementia. They help create meaningful moments like these, where residents feel safe, valued and connected.

Wishing Margaret a joyful weekend full of love and laughter 💐🎂

Farm friends bringing smiles to Easton Park 🐄

Our residents at Sir David Martin Home and Arthur Webb Court had some very special visitors this week - friendly farm animals from Kindi Farm! 🐥

From calves and goats to ducks and guinea pigs, everyone enjoyed getting up close, feeding, patting, and reminiscing about fond memories of pets and farm life. These visits bring so much joy, laughter, and comfort to our residents.

A big thank you to our amazing leisure and care teams for making these moments possible and ensuring everyone had a wonderful time. 💛

This month, our homes came together for heartfelt Remembrance Day services, honouring those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

One of our residents, a former RAAF officer, shared his reflections before laying a wreath - a moment that reminded us of the courage and resilience of all who served.

The services were deeply moving, filled with respect, gratitude, and unity.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Magic at Whiddon Kelso! 🪄

Residents and children came together for a heartwarming intergenerational magic show, performed by the talented Ben and Diana Entertainment. The room was filled with laughter, awe, and connection as everyone was swept into a world of imagination.

From moving furniture and flying magical balls to doves that disappeared and reappeared as adorable bunnies, the show kept both adults and children gasping with delight. The joyful atmosphere was a beautiful reminder of the magic that happens when generations come together.💫

🌸 Jacaranda Festival Joy in Grafton! 🌸

We were proud to sponsor this year’s iconic Jacaranda Festival – a vibrant celebration that brings the community together in colour, music, and fun!

Our Grafton home joined the festivities on Jacaranda Thursday, with team members and residents dancing, dressing up, and decorating. A highlight was crowning our very own Jacaranda King and Queen, adding a special touch to the day. It was heartwarming to see residents out in the community, soaking up the festival atmosphere and sharing in the joy of this beloved tradition.

As part of the celebrations, we also hosted the Whiddon Jacaranda Afternoon Tea – a cherished annual event held at the Clarence River Jockey Club. Home care clients and team members enjoyed a high-tea style afternoon filled with sweet and savoury treats, music, raffles, and a visit from the Jacaranda Royal Party. The event not only celebrated the season but also supported Whiddon’s aged care and community programs.

Thank you to everyone who helped make these moments so special – your energy and creativity brought the festival spirit to life! 💜

Narrabri have done it again! 🥇

Our residents entered the annual Narrabri Rose and Flower show, once again coming away with a win!

This time around, we received the Champion and Reserve Champion Awards in residential care, with over 40 entries that the judges had to select from.

A big thank you to Lyn, Therese and young Tilly and Chase for coming in and helping us make these beautiful creations, and to the hard-working ladies that spent countless hours putting the Flower Show on every year. 🌺

At Whiddon Temora, we had the joy of witnessing a beautiful connection. Our residents Gloria and Marlene, along with one of our care team members, Janet, gathered together for a musical moment around a crowd favourite, ‘Sweet Caroline’. 🎶

Thanks to the Resparke program, designed to spark joy and meaningful connection for residents living with dementia, the trio were able to engage, reminisce and smile together.

There’s something magical when the music starts and you can see the twinkle in someone’s eye, the tapping of the foot, the soft singing along. It reminds us that living with dementia doesn’t mean the moments of joy stop, but instead, with the right support and compassionate team, they flourish.

Huge thanks to Janet for leading the moment, and to everyone who makes these opportunities possible.

🎀 Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness at Redhead

Our Whiddon Redhead home came together for a heartfelt day of support, awareness, and community spirit. Residents and team members dressed in pink to show solidarity and raise funds for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, with gold coin donations and plenty of smiles.

A special moment was shared with Jacqui, a beloved team member who continues to shine brightly for our residents. Her strength and positivity inspired everyone, and it was beautiful to see the support surrounding her.

Resident Mick stole the show, keeping his wig on all day and bringing laughter to everyone around him! And thanks to Peter and the catering team, staff and visitors enjoyed delicious cupcakes that added a sweet touch to the day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event meaningful and memorable. 💗
