Whether you’re starting your career, upskilling or developing your workforce, this action-based learning program is designed to be flexible, practical and very relevant to supporting complex people.
"The course was easy to follow and was complemented by comprehensive course materials which I often refer to in my everyday practice. The trainers were highly knowledgeable and always helpful in answering any questions I had about behaviour support. They provided great examples and feedback throughout the course which gave me the confidence to apply my skills and knowledge to my work."

We consistently receive great feedback on our Behaviour Support in Action program, and our next course starts on the 29th of January.

Today is International Day of People with Disability and the theme for 2025 is "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress".

We all need to work together to make society fairer and respect the rights of people with disability. Countries in the United Nations, including Australia, have agreed to the Doha Political Declaration. This is a promise to work together to make life better for everyone.

To do this, we need to:
- Take away barriers that stop people with disability from joining in.
- Make sure people with disability have the same chances as others.
- Have health care and good education that everyone can use.
- Include people with disability in all parts of life.

We also need to understand the problems people with disability face. This includes being poor, not being able to find a job and being treated unfairly.

In Australia, we are striving for more people with disability in leadership roles. This is a policy priority in Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031. This strategy is Australia’s national disability policy framework. It drives action at all levels of government to improve the lives of people with disability.

As we approach the end of OT week, Anja, one of our OTs, explains the role they play in people's lives:
OTs help people do the things they want to do or are expected to do, e.g. activities of daily living e.g. personal care, cleaning, cooking, shopping, community/workplace/school participation, money management, meaningful activities/work/hobbies/play and sleep.

We work with children, teenagers and adults who present with complex disabilities and/or find themselves in complex service systems. Many of our clients have experienced significant trauma early in life or throughout their lives and we have the skills to see how this impacts a person’s development and participation. We understand the importance of structure, routine and rhythm and schedule our supports and interventions accordingly.

We currently provide services in:
Melbourne, Ballarat, Darwin, Tiwi Island, Maningrida and Katherine.

OT assessments include:
• Functional capacity/daily living skills assessments
• Home and living assessments
• Sensory assessments
• Fine and gross motor assessments
• Cognitive assessments

We provide the following OT supports:
• Daily life skills
• Social skills
• Fine and gross motor skills
• Sensory modulation strategies
• Training for parents and care providers
• Participation in care team meetings
• Provision of comprehensive reports
